The gas cap door needs a lock on it too.

Ford can make it out of plastic to save money.

I just read a new article this morning coming out of Texas about F150's being targeted by thives stealing tailgates and taillight housing ond of course the catylitic converters. One of the victims that had his taillights stolen told the reporter he didn't think it was that big of a deal until found out each assembly was 1100.00. Anybody else hear about this?

Like others have mentioned, the tailgate should be locked up when the truck is locked on modern trucks. I've seen a lot of people still leave their vehicles unlocked, especially in front of their house.

I hate thieves with a fiery passion
If only certain legislatures shared your disdain for thievery. I work in NorCal, where the local government is more concerned about hurting criminal's feelings than they are about protecting law abiding citizens property.

I'd like to poke fun of California, but in this case I don't think the problem is limited to that boundary.
Theft is a hand slap penalty pretty much everywhere these days.

Cool. Do you know if the lock works with the power tailgate?

I remember my dad's F150 had the tailgate stolen twice growing up in Houston. After the 2nd time he put some sort of lock on it. When they couldn't steal it for a 3rd time they keyed the whole truck ?
Face toward enemy!

" three reports of taillight thefts from Ford pickups "

HOLY SHIZ A CRIME WAVE!

From the second source in FA the article, the guy mentions the tailgate screws were removed to access the tailgate lock mechanism. I imagine if you can protect that better you'd be fine.

But you have a better chance of a smash and grab happening.

I used a 3” stainless hose clamp on my 2018 to lock the tailgate on.

I'm actually not concerned about anyone messing with our property on our property. Very rural and about a 1/4 mile up into the woods from the dead end road we live down. Or put another way, incredibly low transient traffic and in ~20 years have only had a couple of folks lost enough to drive in far enough to be seen. Lol

Still, everyone has to buy groceries, right?
Or Christmas shop?
Or do some banking?

It's them jaunts into the city that offer the opportunity for the folks up to no good.
You drive to bank these days?

And, Christmas Shop?

I get news articles that come across my Iphone and they change evey day. I usually don't read them unless they pic my interest as that one did, so no, but I just googled it and there were quite a few articles pertaining to that subject.
