I was always dead set against a 6 cylinder gas powered truck.
5.4 or 5.0 is what I only bought. Then I drove a 3,5 Eco upon the salesman's recommendation. Holy moly what torque and pep. I know that the turbos generate the power and that they will eventually fail like water pumps and...
Ok, since I keep my trucks past 200,000 and have never had to change a timing chain in 40 years.
When its time to replace my turbos, I will post a video of me doing the job myself.
When you get to 200,000 you can post a video of you taking the cab off your truck to access the oil pump...
Unlocks fine and moves approximately an inch and that's it. I've tried to force it down but don't want to break it.
Tried switching to manual in settings and still no go.
Perhaps it's time to purchase a code scanner. There are no codes visible, but watching Scotty Kilmer pull up dozens of...
Don't buy a 6.7 unless they fixed their screw up.
The timing gear on the crankshaft is friction fit on and they jump time because there is no key way to stop it.
Mobil 1 full synthetic changed every 9000 miles.
2008 5.4 240,000 traded in still running like a top.
2013 5.0 225,200 still driving it and runs great.
2021 3.5 22,000
I have never had to change a timing chain or cam phaser. Using quality oil is money in the bank.
I won't use anything else.
1 - Visit a Ram message board like this F150 board and see what Ram owners are saying.
2 - If the Hemi is being discontinued might that make repairing that engine more expensive in the future?
3 - I've always heard that Dodge transmissions suck. Maybe they changed for the better.
I would have bought another 5.0 if not for the oil pump driven by a belt located at the rear of the engine.
You must take off the cab to perform the work.
No thanks.
There is no way that the timing chain broke if the truck still drove. The timing chain controls the pistons, electric for spark and valves for intake and exhaust.
While they are in there ask if they'll change the oil pump belt too. It's in the back of the engine so you have to pull the cab off...
I've had 4x4 living in Texas and Georgia.
It snowed 1 foot on I-10 when I moved from Houston to San Antonio. In Georgia freak snow storms would occur every year or so. I used 4x4 in both places. I pulled a lumber truck out of the mud in GA.
I look at it like what is my life or health worth...
I like being prepared and to have the ability to drive anywhere ar anytime.
I drove to Minnesota in February. On the way back I got caught in a white out. All you could see was the taillights of the car in front. A wreck happened and I had to use shift on the fly 4x4 and go off highway to avoid...
