I had genuine unintended tailgate opening on my '21 Powerboost and the fob was reprogrammed for a double click as part of the recall. I think for some owners hitting it by mistake *may* have been part of the problem and for others such as myself that was not the cause, and the tailgate was really dropping by itself. As extra insurance to try to make sure no trucks came back after the repairs they threw in the 'double click' with the recall. If people are saying they had a single click tailgate button that has become a double click, I'd wonder if they had the recall done and were not told that was part of it. Otherwise maybe Ford has made the double click part of some over the air update we don't know about?

Regardless I hate the button and prefer the double click too as I now can ride with the keys in my pocket without worries.

To my knowledge, the fob was always double click. The fob even instructs me to click it twice to open the gate.

The actual issue is with opening the tailgate via the latch button. It's aggravatingly slow to respond and if you double click it too fast, it does nothing. Nothing more fucking stupid than holding 50 lbs of groceries waiting for this tailgate to decide when it wants to open.

The irony considering all the difficulty I went through getting the recall done and fixing complications it caused is that the way my tonno seals the tailgate releases but won't lower unless I'm actually driving around exerting enough force on it to shake it loose.

I was going through my paperwork looking for my owners card so I can finally program a door code and came across a little notecard regarding the electronic tailgate. It does say that when the doors are locked that I need to press the tailgate button twice.

But also, why this separate little card? This sounds like it was a change and didn’t match the manual, so they included this card?

If I walk up to the tailgate while locked +keys in pocket+ then press the handle= it does nothing. It has to be unlocked for the tailgate to go down. Even unlocked, it requires two very stupid presses. If we had to press the interior handles or exterior handles twice to open the doors, it would be a critical safety issue. Why is this bullshit different.

Separate little card sounds like the notice I was supposed to give my customer (me) when doing updates to customer (my) truck on FDRS.
