Update: turned truck on this morning. Here’s my result. Again. Not sure what’s wrong

Ford F-150 SYNC4's 12" screen display is beautiful when used for full-screen external video input (NAViKS HDMI Video Interface) 39971404-4D75-4627-8561-EAA5832A975F

I wonder if you have a bad unit. Might be worth seeing if they'll ship you a new one before you give up. Mine works but initially I did have problems getting the cable seated properly, the big cable with the plastic lever. My only issue is occasionally my entire screen goes dark at start-up, actually never just turns on. I assume it's the Naviks unit as I didn't have any issues before. I have not taken the dash back apart again because it's a rare issue. However, once I do, I will likely remove the unit and just return to stock to avoid any further issues.
I've recently been through a mess with Ford on my wife's tuned ecoboost mustang that Ford wouldn't warranty a new computer or new head because it was "modified" with a simple tune. So now I am gun-shy...

law states they have to prove mods affected the computer. Threaten a lawyer. They tried that with me also.

yeah no problem whatsoever like you are describing. Mine is strictly hdmi related. Gonna call him tomorrow. All of his suggestions didn’t work and just further prove it may be the unit itself

Further update on my unit: I have hooked up a hdmi extender, so now I can plug in and unplug whatever device, hdmi adapter, etc right into the hdmi extender that comes out near my center console cup holders. This works great because for whatever reason in order to get any device to display properly, I have to always unplug and plug back in the device to actually get it displayed properly. Not sure if any of you are experiencing this. But this may have been my problem all along ( see my previous posts )
Now my issue is getting audio to work. I have a fire stick plugged in. I have a flash drive with one song loaded. Flash drive shows up in truck , plays song fine. I select the usb stick. Song starts playing. I hold back and Firestick Home Screen shows fine. I select my video from YouTube. And no audio. Have messed with it and it’s not working.
Any suggestions?

Yeah. I’m going to call him again and see what he has to suggest. I’d love to send it to him and get a new one in exchange. I might try unplugging the whole unit. Going factory again. Go for a drive as such. Then hook the unit up again fresh. See if that some how fixes everything.

Still not sure on the audio part. I’ve battled through everything else and solved it.

Have any of you gotten the latest
sync update , gives you CarPlay full screen apparently?

For anyone using their Naviks with a streaming device and an iPhone, I have come up with an automation on my phone to make the experience a little more seamless.

If you go into the shortcuts app, you can create an automation to turn on your hotspot when your phone connects to CarPlay. One less manual step to get things going.

This could also behelpful with anyone who has kids using tablets, etc. in the truck.

I have a spare iPhone that stays in my truck I wish I could get the phone to power down with the truck. Its an iPhone 14 pro on 16.2 so no jail breaks out yet.

Installed mine yesterday and it works great. Have a Roku Stick 4K+ hooked up through the hdmi. Using the trucks WiFi. I’m powering the Roku with the USB in the center console.

I ran the hdmi cord under the cup holders and drilled a hole with a forstner bit into the center console. In addition to the removal shown on the Navik video, I removed the slide top for the bottom console thing under the dash that has the touch charger, and also the cup holder assembly. It was very simple and also allowed me to clean up spilled coffee from a year ago. The remote isnt IR so it works great stored away.

Hello everyone! Further update on everything. I haven't used any streaming sticks in months, just the hdmi adaptor. I could never get the streaming sticks to work properly and consistently. But everything works flawless with the adaptor. I have also even been getting all of these latest OTA updates, almost daily. I just received a "quality improvement to your trailer position/license plate lights" update moments ago. I wonder if this adjusts the brightness of them? I have been told they are too bright by people before. I am happy these updates are finally getting to me on a normal occurrence and that I have the apple car-play full screen update finally.
