I have noticed my screen fluttering a few times while driving down the road, and even going dark on me when I start the truck, never splashing the Ford logo etc. After a few minutes of being powered off, I tried again and it came back on. My family and I are on a road trip and it didn’t start up when we were prepping to leave our hotel Saturday. I removed the battery negative and reconnected it and it worked fine. I don’t know if this is an issue caused by the navics or if it is software update related or something along those lines.
I don’t like it…
I'm sure you are aware that both the 2021 and the 2022 APIM's are queued up for a pretty hefty OTA update currently?

Ford rolled it out for 2022 a couple of weeks ago and started for 2021 a couple of days ago.
Not saying it would be an issue with this mod, but I don't know enough about it to know either way.

This update finally succeeds at unifying all Gen14 APIM's to the same build.

I asked the guys that build them and they said it had nothing to do with fords software . They simply take over the factory screen itself input. I don’t know what any of that means. We will see

Check cable connections? If its flickering that sounds like it would be the case if not seated all the way. Especially if truck is moving down the road and you notice it. This device is just pass through for the Sync 4 system.

I thought cables as well, except that removing and reconnecting the battery made an impact. We’ll see. It’s a pain to get back in there but I might have to if it keeps this issue up.

No worries. You are never going to be a bother. :)
It's what forums are for.

I believe a network scan may be required for the update to show up in FDRS. I only have PTS, and I see you got 3.5.2 a month ago. This update is included in 3.5.3 which already started going out to people, so hopefully people like you and I will get it soon, as well.

Edit: Speaking to the topic of the thread: I'm still hunting one of these devices down for myself on eBay. I know they make a good product, but I only drive 6k miles per year. I can't justify paying MSRP for it as little as I'd use it. My commute to work is 1.5 miles and I work 6 days a week, so I'm never in my truck.

For the same reason specified in my edited post above, I'm not spending the $50 to update manually. I don't drive my truck enough to justify it. lol

once this update is live in our trucks their are other ways to do it. Only reason i went Naviks is because the fullscreen was not option. Now that it is i will try a android majicbox that uses the carplay usb even though i have a brand new naviks unit on my bar.
