Sync display not starting correctly

So for about a month now when I get in and start my truck my SYNC screen does not boot up correctly. Sometimes its black, sometimes it hangs on the Ford Logo loading screen. Usually, it will restart itself and sort itself out, but sometimes I have to turn the truck off, get out lock it and start over.

This was only happening occasionaly at first, but is now happening I would say at least half of the time. Not sure if this was caused by an update that was pushed out or what would cause this to start happening all of a sudden.

Any ideas on how to manually reset it?

To reset it, hold down the radio power button and forward seek button for 10 seconds or until the screen reboots itself.

Same. It started after the last APIM update for me. At this point as long as it reboots itself and does eventually start up, I figured I would just wait for the next update.

Now that I know others are having the same issue, I'm sure that that's what I'll end up doing, because there's not likely any other alternative.

Once again waiting on Ford engineers to fix bugs - By 2035 they should have all the bugs worked out of my 2021 truck. ?

My sync has also had some serious issues since the last update. Im hoping they fix this fast, because it has made driving (back up and navigating using carplay) a terrible experience.

Thanks @rugedraw may just be hopeful thinking but this seems to have corrected my SYNC startup. Mine was acting like others have been experiencing and now it seems to back to normal?

Glad to hear. Just like when a phone or a PC is acting up, a good reset can perform wonders.

yep, mine does the same thing. if the NAVIGATION screen is on, at start up, it sits there with the blue spinning circle of death. I have to hit any other screen display, like audio or phone, then back to NAV.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY... you screwed up this latest OTA... fix it!!!!

sync refuses to still dial out only one number...my wifes phone number
i have to pick up my phone and press the green icon to get it to dial out,
if sync tries to place the call it just keeps hanging up
only does it for her number. keeps saying its an invalid number.....its one freaging digit different from my number
i have tried reboot, both phone and sync, reloaded my phone and contacts and still HAL refuses to call her number..its really hilarious .........nope

Same issue here with my 23 PB. I'd say about 20% of the time the screen hangs on the grey 'Ford 75th' screen for a minute or two, then seems to reboot on its own and then its ok.

Robert - have you tried putting her number in under a different name? It could be where it is being stored in memory is faulty. Even if you delete it and reinstall the contract, it may be saved to the same spot. Also, if the number requires a pause for what ever reason, add a comma for every 2 seconds of pause you might need.

Even if you delete it and reinstall the contract, it may be saved to the same spot. Also, if the number requires a pause for what ever reason, add a comma for every 2 seconds of pause you might need.
i may try that
i did remove the #1 verizon kept putting in front of the number

had not thought about putting name different
its very odd, my brain says it has to be the sync 4 somehow, as it works fine if i drive her car or moms maverick. both are sync 3

Just the one number seems strange tho. I don't think it is Sync 4 because it would show up with different numbers. Sync 4 could be seeing something in the data stream that Sync 3 does not.

Mine did that for the 1st time today and my mind started racing about how long I would be without my truck as it gathered real estate in the Dealership Parking lot ...AGAIN!

But it fixed itself after a power cycle.

YES SIR i agree
i think thats why it displays it as an INVALID number , not every time, but often.
i removed the 1 before area code then the number
verizon adds it back in a few days later. yet my number , which is exactly the same except the last digit, both numbers were activated the same date many moons ago etc
its perplexing

if i use the phones key pad, it goes right through as normal

but if use sync screen it acts like it cant find it, or tries to call then hangs up
or places call then hangs up right as it should ring, withe invalid number. or it appears to hang up or not go through then all the sudden i hear her voice and then call connects.
