Im looking to get me truck similar to your first wheel. I’m not looking for an aggressive look and not too much poke. What are your thoughts on a 17x8 +25mm on a 285/75/17

That would push the tire in roughly 3/4 of an inch further than what you see in my pic. I'd imagine you'd be pretty close to flush with that setup.

This is probably the closest I have:

Beautiful truck and overall build! Checking back in to see how those 285/75-R18's are treating you. Did you get a chance to wheel them off road? If so was the rubbing pretty noticeable? Any thoughts of going back to the 17s?

Test fit a 295/70-18 Wildpeak AT3W on an 18x9 +18 offset and even at 2.5" of level got rub on the bumper/air dam, then at full lock on the front crash bars. Loved the look but ended up falling back to 285/75-17 for piece of mind off road and minimal tweaking.

For that Smartcap, have they enabled opening the panels from the inside? I heard that was on their radar for 2023.

Still treating me well, but I do have thoughts about switching to a more positive offset wheel option to hopefully get rid of the rubbing. I did take them on some trails and did rub, but not enough to cause any worry. No issues with things digging into tread, etc.

I have been thinking about doing a 35x11.5x17 to save some weight! A new wheel I like just launched that is 4lbs lighter than what I have and going to a new tire I'd save another 6lbs, making it 10lbs lighter per corner!

Not that the current weight is bad, it's just not as punchy (or at least it feels that way) as it was with the overall lighter wheel / tire setup.

And yes, SmartCap is developing new locks (that dont freeze) and can be opened from the inside. I just haven't heard when. Hoping soon!!
