Swapping grills and emblems

I have an XLT sport on the way and of course I already have a shopping list of mods for it. I have been thinking about grabbing a Lariat Sport takeoff grill and while looking on ebay, most of them do not come with an emblem. I know the Lariats have the camera and washer nozzle cutouts at the bottom. My question is, is it possible to take the emblem off the XLT and put it on the lariat grill and not have the cutouts showing? I've tried searching the forum and trying to look at pictures but can't come up with anything. TIA

I considered doing just the opposite.. I have a lariat sport and considered swapping to an XL or XLT sport as I think they look better. I decided it was too much effort for now.. maybe I'll do it if / when I make the jump to an aftermarket bumper.

I don't know how the emblems transfer, but sub'd to find out

Most emblems will, but make sure you have front camera or not, I went from Ford blue to smoked and black.

I vote STX grill, they are color matched paint with open center design. I’ll eventually swap out my Lariat grill for one. Good luck

Yes. I did it on mine a couple weeks ago. Mine is the 302A package with 360 camera so everything lined up just fine. Took about an hour to do the swap. Make sure to pull the 4 bolts out of the corners for the OEM grill shutter plate because the ones in the Ebay grill will likely spin preventing you from being able to properly tighten them down. They have a lock tab keeping them in place on the grill. The OEM ones have a plastic piece where it slides into and locks in place. The Ebay bolts were missing the plastic part so they just spin freely in the grill. I ran into that when I had it all together and went to tighten them down and the lock nuts caused the post bolts on the Ebay grill to spin so had to pull it all apart and swap them out. After that it went back together perfectly. Also the rubber flaps around the top corners of the back side of the grill are kind of a pain to put back in because they are cut different for the XLT and Lariat grills. They'll fit but you have to force them a little bit. Once you're in there all this will make sense.

From the pictures you posted @Porpoise Hork, It looks like the entire emblem comes off so I should be fine with replacing it with the XLT emblem and having no holes/cutouts showing.

The front emblem has 2-3 (can't remember for sure) threaded posts and only held on to the grill with stamped sheet metal nuts. Undo those and it comes right off. I'm fairly certain there's no difference in mounting points with yours vs the camera version as far as mounting is concerned.

Straight Swap. I took a risk on seeing if it would fit and it did. My understanding is the tremor hood sits over the top of tremor grill.

Looks good. Like you said it is a straight swap. The only issue is that the Tremor and the BAP hoods cover the top of the grille so the hood latch cutout isn't visible.

Gives it better aero dynamics lol! That doesn’t phase me at all.
