It never ceases to amaze me the lengths that owners are willing to go to solve a problem or add options to an already existing truck. Also the lengths that participants in this forum will go to help others. My hat if off to all of you.

But the above is why this forum is so much fun and yet, educational at the same time. The practical application of knowledge.
Agreed. I've learned so much from this forum and it has given me the confidence to rip my truck apart several times, reassemble it all and you can't tell. I've installed the massage feature to my seats, lighting to my interior and a bunch of other projects. I've received assistance from some of the amazing people on this forum, who surprisingly go out of their way to help out a fellow forum member they don't know, outside of this forum. This community is pretty amazing, IMHO.

Dealerships are just overworked and lazy. It takes time to do some of these updates. Ford should vastly improve the way they send out updates over the air. It should be on demand, if the owner requests it. Then we wouldn't need FDRS so much.
After doing the updates myself a few weeks ago, I can see why the dealer is not in a huge hurry to do it. Took me 7 hours on day 1 and another 6 hours on day 2 to get my truck all the way up to date. Wasn't hard, but lots of babysitting it and checking on it.

Most people wouldn't want to pay a dealer more than $200 or so for the updates, and with that much time involved, it would be a big money loser for a dealer to do it.

After doing the updates myself a few weeks ago, I can see why the dealer is not in a huge hurry to do it. Took me 7 hours on day 1 and another 6 hours on day 2 to get my truck all the way up to date. Wasn't hard, but lots of babysitting it and checking on it.

Exactly. It is very easy for people that don't know what the process entails to want their dealer to do it just because. Dealerships are not the Red Cross. It is Ford's responsibility to update our trucks and not the dealer service department working pro-bono. I know my opinion on this may not be the most popular one, but "stealerships" are a for-profit business like any other.

did the dealer charge you for the module updates? mine says if they're not "necessary" they won't do them
No, the truck was there for some other issues with the Gateway module and they we’re good with updating everything.

I've been applying FDRS updates to my 22 PB for the last 5 hours. I Thank @rugedraw for his availability, although it is turning out pretty easy, It's nice to have someone to bounce things off. for anyone interested I bought my Mongoose Plus Ford2 J2534 cable off amazon, same day delivery, I also picked up the power supply charger with the 20A capability.

Well this went great, no surprises. Took her out for a test drive tonight. I noticed the following so far:

-new chime sound on driver alert
-new icon on approaching curve (covers speed limit sign on speedometer)
-lighter force feedback on steering wheel when I am assisting.
-lane keeping makes improved corrections around curves (no ping pong)
-of course in blue cruise the lane changing is shocking and quick
-overall seems like computer responses is faster, but might be my imagination.
-my forscan mods were NOT overwritten, Bambi, doublehonk off, 5 turn signal flashes and custom boot logo retained.


Update 1/11:

-driver seat belt indicator doesn't always light up,(or clears after a while not sure) but will disable active lane keeping until I put my seat belt on. (might be due to a forscan mod?)

-zone lighting stays on indefinitely even after powering down truck. Powered back up to turn off zone lighting manually.

Update 1/17:

This thing is SOLID. I can use any lane on the freeway now whereas on Blue Cruise 1.0 I had to stay away from Lanes where the lane divider paint was not symmetrical I definitely couldn't drive next to the toll Lanes with the vertical Lane barriers I definitely couldn't drive next to K rails and I couldn't drive in Lanes where one line was painted solid and the other line was dashed but now all of that is gone this thing doesn't care what Lane you're in and it's moving to the sides ever so slightly AKA in Lane re positioning. It's not Invincible to Curves but 90% of the curves it handles without me feeling nervous at all.

Update 1/19:
Drive all the way from Riverside, CA to San Jose, CA on Bluecruise 1.4, it was amazing! Very minimal interventions. Best experience I've ever had on bluecruise since I bought this truck in 2022.

BTW, nerd alert, for anyone who's interested, here is a time lapse of my installing the FDRS Updates.

Thanks to @rugedraw, Snakebitten, Jesse, and others who have written posts on upgrading our trucks. Using the forum, these posts, and the help of others I have BC 1.4 and feel more comfortable with FDRS and Forscan changes.

I joined the Ford Forum recently to learn how to update my 2022 PB King Ranch to BC 1.4. After reading the threads I DM'd @rugedraw and he was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. My modules were already up to date and I already had a FORScan subscription and an OBDLink EX cable. After exchanging a few DM's with him all I had to do was follow his instructions and make the FORScan changes in just 2 modules I was able to get my BC 1.4 update to work perfectly. Only took about 30 minutes and I didn't experience any complications, everything went as expected. The lane changing in hands free mode works quickly and smoothly. It was a 5 mile short test drive so I didn't notice the lane repositioning because there was no need for my vehicle to move over in the lane but I suspect that will work well too.
I take it that you didn't need a Mongoose Cable since you didn't need FDRS, just FORScan with the OBDLink Ex?

You can use either the Mongoose or the OBDLink EX for Forscan

I was searching for the option to change the number of times the turn signal flashes. Wasn't possible the last time I was messing around with FORScan. I'll have to take another look, as I think 3 is not enough for a lane change.
