Have a 21 5.0 FX4 with about 20K on it. Here in the last few weeks I've noticed what I can only describe as a low frequency rumbling sound when I drive, but not mechanical. It reminds me of what happens if your tailgate doesn't latch 100%, or the spare tire not being 100% snug. like something loose vibrating/resonating at a very low frequency based on bumps/road smoothness etc. Happens at any speed, but just sounds like amplified road/truck vibration. Most people would probably tell me I'm crazy and just chalk it up to normal road/truck sounds, since it's not very loud, and I would probably agree with them if it weren't something that I know the truck hasn't done prior to recently.
It's hard to pin down where it's coming from exactly. seems like the front end. I mostly just don't know what to even check. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet, but they're just gonna tell me they couldn't find anything wrong and/or can't hear what I'm talking about. Has this happened to anyone else or anyone have any thoughts on what could cause it if it's not the tailgate or spare? (checked those already)
