SSM 53966 question

Well aware of the SSM that was pushed out in July that halted all updates of APIM modules underneath a specific version.

What resources can you use to track when this ever gets fixed? I don’t want to spend FDRS money every month just to see I still don’t have any more updates.

Following...I've had the same question on my mind. Only way I could think of is if the people who already look up vins would notice it during a look up but that would just mean asking more from them. They already do a lot for the rest of the group.

One thing new I noticed is that GSB 23-7146 now shows red X’s instead of version numbers. Maybe this has something to do with the updates being disabled?

My 2021 Edge is stuck on version 22028, so I am still missing things like full screen CarPlay, updated design, and just general bug and performance fixes.

On June 20, 2025, Ford released the alert on PTS. Then, just a few days later, it was upgraded to SSM 53966. Now it’s about 4 months later and no news??

The SSM only applies to vehicles on Sync 4. Have you ran the VIN of the Edge though here to see if you have a Sync version you can download and install yourself?

Yes, I am on SYNC 4, version 4.0.22028. All 2021-2024 Edge have SYNC 4.

Really? Oh nice. I didn't know that. In that case, yea, that is very old software. I don't have access to check for pending updates any more, though.

Yep. The last OTA update I have received was in July 2021. Last time I checked, I know that there are AWD, ACM, TCU, and APIM updates available for me.

Send me the VIN and I can check for any possible connectivity issues, but if you were showing an APIM and TCU update pending, they you do have more updates on the server for you. You may still be affected by this SSM, but you should be able to get a little further along the process right now. Ford's OTA process is garbage, buyt 3 years without an OTA is not normal even for them.

I have good news related to the SYNC updates!!!!

Take a look at GSB 23-7146 - Determining Latest SYNC 4 Software Level

There used to be red X's under some vehicles. They have now been removed. Edge, Nautilus, Bronco, no longer have red X.
