In my 2015, the spare key hidey-hole was in the forward most console compartment under the radio and hidden under the removable rubber inset. I finally found the 2021 hidey-hole while cleaning yesterday. Admittedly, I only really looked where it had previously been in my 2015. It’s under the front-seat back-most cup holder rubber insert. Love this fun little feature. Cheers!

Well damn. I actually just put the fob in there and it wasn’t deep enough to actually hide the key. I didn’t know about using it for the low battery- could’ve used that once or twice with the 2015.
Also…. Her. ;)

Thanks @kevdog0710 & @RedTXV

No problem. I only know about it from YouTube. My truck is still only a picture on the Ford tracker that barely works for me

Well I hope you love the blue as much as I do! You’re going to love your new truck! Even with the troubles I’ve had, I still love it and am willing to wait on Ford to fix her.

Well, okay. Since the question of the spot to stick a key fob with a dead battery has come up, lemme just ask about my 2022 F-150 XLT with the front jumpseat (no flow through console). I *think* I might have found the little holder where you can put a dead key to allow the truck to start, and if I'm right, it's in the large compartment underneath the seat bottom of the jump seat in the front.
Am I right? Has anybody tried it to see if it works?

I'm not sure what's meant by hidey-hole, but sounds like what Ford refers to as "the back up location". If your key has a dead battery, or you want to program a key with MyKey, you put it in this location so the vehicle can read it

FWIW, I HAVE spent a fair amount of time with the owner's manual, which I probably don't need to mention is well over 700 pages, and is in an electronic form which is difficult to sit down and thumb through - you either have to read through it from front to back, or know exactly for what you are looking in the Contents or Index section (I did try looking up "hidey-hole, but no luck). And last, the particular information to which I was referring is "hidden" in the section on MYKEY, which admittedly I skipped over because I have no interest in setting one up - I think I can trust my wife to behave herself when using her key. I'm just really not sure that it would have ever occurred to me to look in the section on programming a MYKEY to learn about this odd, unidentified pocket buried in the bottom of the compartment under the jumpseat. In fact, it probably would not have occurred to me that there is the capability to start the vehicle even with a dead key fob, except that it was mentioned in some thread somewhere. Maybe it's in the owners' manual somewhere, I dunno.
It amazes me the lengths people will go to post snarky, unuseful comments on a users' forum like this.

I have to agree that several people don't bother reading/searching the manual for information. But I do agree with you the owner's manual is a pain to find information. We live in a computer world so I don't get how difficult it would be to have a custom electronic format for our truck or at least the options for us to select our built and have the owner's manual popping up with only the chapters of interest for our truck. Reading it and seeing "if equipped" all the time or only apply to a specific motor as examples made it difficult to read and follow. BTW I don't have a MyKey for my wife either, she's scared to drive it :) or not allowed......
