Folks - I am updating this post. So please respond to the below message and not the original message.

(Updated message)

I have decided to buy a Ford F150 XLT turbo post from Chip at Grainger ford. Regardless of whether I choose Antimatter blue or Black, I am getting the step ladder and 7.2 plug in in the option I configured but have not added the tow/haul package.

1. If I don't regularly tow but may occasionally, how important is the tow/haul package?

2. Does the antimatter blue color look like the beautiful blue on the website or is darker?

3. What is the average wait time?

4. Will NJ dealers honor the warranty from Iowa and is it a hassle getting registered in NJ?

5. Am I depreciating the car fairly soon by putting in 1200 miles as soon as I buy?

(Original message)
Someone please urgently advise asap. I want to get Ford XLT powerboost. I am in NJ

Local dealership comes to $61,847.7 all in with sales tax on a black model (does not include the step ladder but has the black package plus).

Chip from Granger comes to $56454 plus $180 doc fee plus $35 transit title fee and does not include NJ sales tax.

Chip will not commit to the dealer rebates at this time because it depends on the VIN and when I collect it. So, if i assume it as $2500 the total will be $53954k and then an approx tax of 6.625pct will put it at $57522. But this will include a step ladder and a 7.2 hookup.

Is it worth buying from the local dealership given the above? I am losing the step and 7.2 but gaining a black package plus. Also I don't have to wait 4-6 months.

I have no idea on the fees/etc but the 7.2/Step vs Black package is a big tradeoff IMO. Good luck!

In the end, you'd probably be happiest if you waited. I was in a similar situation last year and ended up buying off the dealer lot, but I regret not having the patience to order from Granger (and not saving a lot of cash).

Tow package is only important if you do a lot of towing of fairly heavy equipment or trailers. Sounds like you don't or you probably would not be asking.

Bed step is a really nice feature and if it is a Powerboost you must get the 7.2 Kw option, or it will be a large waste IMO. If nothing else than for resale value.

The warranty is for the truck period. It is good at any Ford dealership regardless of the state you happen to be in at the time.

Granger puts in the order and then it is out of their hands and in Fords hands. They have no control over building it and if you call them every 5 minutes it will not make it go any faster.

The miles driving it home is nothing.

Granger is probably the best at internet sales and they are wonderful to work with the lowest fees I have seen anywhere. Good choice but again just sit back and it will be built when it is built. Good luck.

I don't tow right now but what happens if I wanted to rent an RV or trailer? Will driving be a problem without tow package? What does tow package give?

Based on how many threads and posts you done in just a few days here, I'm not so sure you have the patience to wait months for a custom order.
Ok .

I have seen this. I have never towed anything and wondering what I would miss out if I did not have the tow package from a functionality perspective.

Ok dawg. The response is not related to any of the questions asked but that's fine, it's the internet.
This was actually very relevant to the overall discussion.

I don't own an F-150 yet. I drove a 1997 F-150 for several years that my parents owned and I loved it. I have a 24MY on order (see details in signature)

All that said if you are rushing into this which from all your ASAP posts it sounds like you are... I'd suggest you slow down. You are about to spend a lot of money no matter what option you go with and you should make sure you get to a "no-regrets" place in terms of your decision making.

From previous posts by you... the local dealers you talked seem to be saying some sketchy stuff about you know being eligible for incentives they advertise on their website which makes no sense to anyone here. Based on that alone I would run out the door... they are going to try their best to raise the out the door price before they hand you the keys and it will be exhausting. Granger will have you in and out in 15 minutes if you want or they will spend an hour showing you all the bells and whistles but are super transperant and wont try to upsell you on anything (but you in my opinion you should buy their extended warranty which is cheaper than anywhere you will find it)

Nope. Did I ask your opinion on a judgment?
You actually asked the whole world's opinion when you posted a question on a forum.

Don't like it? Don't ask.

But, don't take offense!!!

I asked specific questions on areas I am not familiar with in the interest of seeking help.

Makes sense. My frustration was their taking for granted asking me to go somewhere and now when I go somewhere they are desperate and keep calling. Could have been more respectful the first time.
