What about losing oil pressure when the engine cuts out waiting at a light? Most people will accelerate as soon as the engine turns back on. Isn't this bad for longevity?
Why do you need oil pressure when engine if off? How long do you think it takes to build pressure when am engine starts?

Not really....
The reason starts with "fifty" and ends with "thousand dollars+".
For that kind of money, I'm getting what I want. And I want the ability to stop at a red light without my engine shutting off.
...that's all.
(Spoiled I guess)
Lolol. You are not getting anything you want when the EPA/FEDS are involved.

You have the ability to push a button.
Is that too much work?

I do not want my Diesel engine shutting down and restarting all the time and bought the Auto Stop Eliminator several weeks after getting my truck. Pressing a button every time I want to drive my truck is stupid and should have been defeatable.

If it was permanently defeat-able from the factory, they wouldn’t have been able to use the fuel savings it provides in EPA testing. Would be pointless for them in that case.

This is the same reason you can’t default your drive mode to sport

Yeah, like pushing the start button AND Auto s/s is crazy. All that effort.

I got ~15 traffic lights on my commute to work daily each way. Best case 2-3 catch me. Worst 13-14. Each is 1-2 mins. If there is jam, I stay at each light multiple times. Zero reason for engine to run during that time, unless I need AC (which is almost never in Germany). The Ford is also smarter and doesn't turn off at every single possible slight stop while moving in traffic, unlike my 328i BMW. That start/stop system is annoying.

I don't honestly care for MPG savings when I am using the truck. But sitting for minutes at a time idling is not any better for the engine than the start/stop. And no, the starter does not wear out.

But why cant you make Eco-mode as default?

My two cents, I had a Ranger before my
F-150KR.
ASS on my Ranger was totally annoying and I disabled it early in ownership. What I did notice that there were a lot more Ranger owners replacing batteries before me, whether ASS was related or not I don’t know just something I noticed. (Some Rangers did get a batch of bad batteries in early production.)

ASS on my F-150 is almost completely unnoticeable and my only reason to disable it would be to reduce wear.
I don’t care about what they say that these vehicles today are designed to withstand the wear, manufactures also tell us the tranny fluid is lifetime use too.
