White Smoke = Coolant burning (Sometimes confused with condensation)
Blue Smoke = Oil Burning
Black Smoke = Fuel too rich

Cant tell from the video to much on mobile but it looks like blue smoke. I'd inspect your PCV valve first. If that looks fine then could be some sort of valve issue or piston ring issue as explained above. Somehow oil is sitting above your piston.

If its purple smoke you bought a Chevy and need to have a serious conversation with someone about what happened.

It's one of those things where if you buy used you don't know how the previous owner treaded to vehicle. If it were to start using a measurable amount of oil in a short period, I would look into taking care of it.

I took it to ford and they topped off the oil and they told me to come back in 1k miles so they can measure how much oil it consumes

Is it normal to have this much smoke on startup? This was after letting it sit for 8 hours. I’m also low a quarter of a quart from my last oil change 700 miles ago

What did you find out? I have a new 24 5.0 with 200 miles on it and is also having the blue smoke on start up when cold. Very disappointing

After 800 miles I was low 1qt,they sent the results to ford and they looked into it and seen the valves had oil on them and some other things they are replacing the engine

Wow that is depressing. What other things did they find? Quality control is truly sad now days. I'm going to watch my oil level as I get close to the 1k mark

I know it’s sad. I would take it in if it’s blowing blue smoke because it Will probably just get worse like mine did
I didn’t really question the other things.they were more concerned with the leaking valves with the pictures they were showing me.

My 21 is about to turn 35k and it smokes from a stop. It's oil and it's burning through a lot of it. I'm guess it's the valve stem seals. Out of warranty as of last October. Thankfully my friends and I can do the work, I'm just hoping it isn't something else more serious than that. Bought it used with 6k miles and did all the maintenance myself ?

Going to do a leak down first to see if it's the rings or something else. Ridiculous but I guess that's the cost of buying used sometimes.

? I forgot about the drivetrain warranty...I could go bother my service advisor manager and see what he says. Worst he could say is no because of my mods. I appreciate the reminder.
