Skipping 2nd gear even in Sport mode

I read everywhere that if your in sport mode the truck will hit every gear. Well mine still skips going up and down. Anyone else experiencing this? Should I contact dealer?

Gear skipping is expected behavior. If you really want to test it out, drive at a constant speed when the truck is in 3rd/4th and press (-) on your shifter until you've locked out all gears except 1st and 2nd. You will have to press (+) to get all of your gears back.

Shifting from 1st to 3rd and skipping 2nd gear is normal, even in sport mode. On my 3.5EB, if the accelerator pedal position is 17.5% or higher in sport mode, you will not skip 2nd gear, below that value you will. In the normal drive mode, the cutoff is 20%.

Mine skips 2nd gear in Sport Mode too, unfortunately. One of my least favorite things about the truck is how it prematurely shifts gears and lugs all over town. 8th gear at 35 MPH sucks! It has to shift 3+ gears just to get back in the power curve again. I drive the truck in Sport Mode 80% of the time but it still drives me nuts. Sorry for the rant but maybe this was the point of your post too...

Does resetting the shift table in Forscan alleviate this guys?

Mine shifts great. It just has a tendency to skip second I tested it on a little heavier foot coming out of stop several times and when I did that I went into second every time but once. Maybe didn’t punch it enough that one time lol

Mine uses 2nd if I am accelerating with any urgency. If I’m lazy on the gas it’ll skip to 3rd.

Realizing now it’s the same with mine. Just got concerned cause I heard everyone saying it goes though all gears in sport

I would find it pretty difficult to get Sport Mode to skip 2nd gear. Or put another way, folks behind me would be wondering what the problem is?

Because I'm in a Powerboost, I don't get to use Sport Mode exclusively like I did in my previous Ecoboost. Ford decided in their infinite wisdom to nix EV cruising in Sport Mode.
But even in Normal Mode, with just a little practice, you can get the 10r80 to use 2nd gear when leaving from a traffic stop. You do NOT have to accelerate aggressively to do so. You simply need to be increasing the throttle position throughout 1st gear.

Try it out. Be smoooooth, but deliberately and progressively increasing throttle until it shifts into 2nd gear. It's so much nicer than the truck momentarily falling on its face in 3rd.

It does NOT work while making a turn from a stop. I suspect steering angle input weights the shifting algorithm against the technique.

Now that you say that. It dawns on me now that I have done that and the engine responded as you suggest. I think the turn out of a stop threw me off enough to think it might be something different.

What do you do now turning out of a stop? Gas it? ?Also I feel sometimes when I do get it second the transition to 3rd on mine is a little longer than it should be and seems to rattle a tad but not a horrible shift, other than that the thing shifts like a dream.
