Not much point getting fx4 or max trailer tow on the Powerboost 4x4. It already comes with locking rear diff, 12,000lbs tow, and maxed out fuel tank. I got the tow technology package for the trailer brakes, the trailer connections and the 360 camera. It's a pretty good deal. The $2300 extra would be for some pretty basic skid plates and a sticker and not much else! That's the cost of the awesome power running boards...

FWIW I've had 3 vehicles w/moonroofs and every freekeeng one of them had drain-tube issues. No More! I chose Lariat 501A for simply that reason. Also, I don't consider the inside of a moving vehicle to be a great place to do critical listening (I have a recording studio for that purpose) so I went with the B&O standard 8 speaker. And I turned down the bass because it's 2mvch at the default setting. We've already used the ProPower 7.2Kw in a power outage here, when it was One Hundred Seventeen Degrees in the Willamette Valley the other day.

Got the FX4 - no offroading yet (if ever). Got Max Trailer Tow - no trailer (this year, anyway).
No work surface - retired - no work. The option I didn't get, which I'll need to add, is running boards or side steps. The floor of the truck is at knee height. Doh!

My Lariat build. Shipped on the 29th of June, in transit. Stocked.
not sure which items listed are part of a package but these are the details. We camp and I tow a work trailer, so focused my build on that.
as a renovator, nothing beats Ford as a work truck in my opinion.
No way am I interested in a moon roof since I rack and stack stuff and a canoe that extends overhead. Also as I get older I really don’t like the glare and just something to breakdown imho. Like the sport package for the look over chrome. Currently my 2009 lariat has chrome package and although it has held up on the outside, constant care is needed on inside chrome features to keep rust at bay. They don’t chrome like they used to. If I really wanted chrome I would disassemble parts and have them dipped aftermarket.

2021 Ford F150 XLT Powerboost
I have an XLT powerboost 302A High 7.2kw 2 tone silver/gray with moonroof, FX4, 8 speaker B&O, 360 camera, tow mirrors, max tow pack, pedal adjustment, tailgate step... the reason I went XLT over Lariat, because I prefer cloth seats, column shifter, and incentives on the XLT was the cherry on top.
Only thing I kick myself not getting is the power fold mirrors!! I believe it is not an option on XLT, and I've actually contemplated trading mine in for a Lariat just because of it lol ford dealer quoted me $5k not including labor to add this to mine.

And everyone else with the moonroof... get the ceramic tint on it and you can leave it open all day every day, and wont burn your skillet...worth it!

I am looking to get myself a truck and am 90% set that I am getting a new Lariat. The other 10% is wanting to wait and see what Toyota is doing with the '22 Tundra. This would be the first truck I have owned.

That being said, I am looking at the Lariat short bed on the Ford side. My for sure options are:
  1. 4x4
  2. sport appearance package
  3. 502a
  4. 360 camera
  5. copilot 2.0 active
  6. Trailer tow package (I don't currently tow obviously, but would like at least the hookups there in case I get a trailer down the road)
  7. 36 gallon fuel tank (if I go with V8)
Where I am unsure of, is other options. Mainly, the engine choice... I went in thinking I want an old school V8, but the powerboost with the 7.2kw power in the bed seems really tempting.

Other options I am unsure of are:
  1. FX4
  2. B&O sound system upgrade
  3. Power tailgate
  4. work surface
  5. twin-panel moonroof (I have only opened the moonroof in my current car a handful of times)
I plan on owning this vehicle until the wheels fall off if that makes any difference.

Basically I wanted to ask the hive mind what their thoughts were on these options. Did you get any of them and wish you hadn't? Were there any options you didn't get and wish you had? There's not a lot of inventory out there to compare options side by side. I also live in Minnesota so I would want to get some sort of under body rust protection if you have any recommendations on that (I've heard certain types can cause more issues by blocking drains holes in the body)

Note: I did not include options like spray in bed-liner or tonneau cover because those can be acquired aftermarket (feel free to drop recommendations on those as well)

Here is my Lariat Sport, 502A with nearly every option box check marked besides the PowerBoost and Pro Power Onboard.

I have a Lariat PowerBoost with almost everything except Unleashed, 7.2kw generator, tow mirrors, moonroof or work surface. I went with the extra rust undercarriage package but that was a free upgrade.

If doing it again (which I won’t be for hopefully 15-20 years) I would probably go with the unleashed and 7.2 kw upgrade. The base B&O is definitely lacking. Overall the cost is minimal compared to the total on the truck and probably pays for itself in resale if you ever planned on reselling. I love the power tailgate and step and I haven’t driven the non-hybrid 3.5 but the PowerBoost is a fun ride with plenty of torque whenever you want it. I have the skid plates just as extra protection for everything underneath given the PowerBoost battery setup.
Which gray is that? Based on the builder, I was leaning towards lead foot.

Had my 502a for almost 3 months now. Have loved every minute of it. As for options I have almost everything listed above so:

Powerboost vs. 5.0 - One gets you a louder engine that can be modified, one gets you more power, more torque, better gas mileage, and the chance to have a 7.2kw generator in the bed. I have a Powerboost and its been amazing and has some serious balls.

FX4 - Did not get it since I was lifting my truck, the only thing left would have been the skid plates. If not lifting it can give you a bit more off-road capability.

B&O - I have the 18 speaker Unleashed. It is good (Great actually for an OEM system). That being said the low end underwhelms and I will definitely be modifying and adding to it in the future.

Power Tailgate - The ultimate in lazy excess... And yes I have it and love it.

Work Surface - Awesome, love it, use it, you should get it.

Twin-Panel Moonroof - I have it and its amazing. I have had regular moonroofs in many of my cars before and other than some road trips it never got opened let alone even pulled back the sunshade from it. In my F150 I'm actually irritated when its too hot and sunny that I have to pull the shade. The feeling of openness it provides is amazing.

I put a. Ceramic tint on my sun roof, it makes a huge difference

Not the poster on this but I have the Lead Foot and I have to say it looks really good in the sun when it’s a really light gray. When it’s darker out it’s a bit bland but I’d recommend checking it out in person, especially on a nice day because the color change is pretty dramatic.

Powerboost - I like mine, but I don't get 24 combined, more like 20-22 depending on who is driving. Still love mine because we can run the camper off the generator.

FX4 - be honest with yourself, are you really doing real off-roading in this truck? Driving down dirt roads does not require an off-road package. It also reduces payload.

Moonroof - even if you never open it, adds a lot of light to the cabin. We weren't going to get it, but bought an in-stock unit with it, and I'm really glad we have it.

B&O Unleashed - worth it. We A/B'd them and the unleashed is significantly better. Very glad we went with it.

Power Tailgate - Without the power tailgate, you still get power down, just not power up. You also loose the step. I like not having it for the payload savings, but it's personal preference.

Work Surface - 100% get it. You are getting the motorized shifter either way, so there is no downside to not getting the work surface.

Yea... that's been my problem currently. There's a major lack of inventory on lots for me to actually make good comparisons in person.
