Hello!

Vin# 1FTEW1EPXMKE37482

Lots of trouble with my new trucks sync4 updates. Started because I wasn't getting any updates and the automatic updates and notifications were greyed out. Took to the dealer and they had it for over a month going back and forth between them and Ford engineering. Finally settled on replacing the APIM and said it was good to go. Automatic updates and notifications could then be turned on but still no updates. Update details kept saying "your system is up to date" and sync 4 said version 22087_product revision 145.

Tookit back to the dealer and they said it wasn't updating and they had to manually do it but once again said my truck was ready to go so I went and picked it up only for it to say the exact same things. Nothing seems done to it. Hoping you can look at my VIN and provide some info that I can share with them. I know I can update it myself but I don't really want to pay 500 for a tool when the dealership should be able to do this.

Your truck got OTA 2.1.0 which is as old as they come 2 weeks ago, so the dealer did their job and fixed the issue where your truck was not getting updates. The problem is, you are now so far behind, it will literally take years for the OTA process to get you caught up. Ford does not pay dealers to update modules just because they are out of date, so they will most likely not do more than they've done up to this point. If you don't want to spend $600 on a Mongoose, check my signature for the Mongoose loaner thread and lmk if you want me to add you to the waiting list. Looking like about an 8 week wait before your turn if I add you to the list now.

Also to note I just got my truck back today and they said I was hundreds of updates behind and that they got it updated for me. Assuming that's not correct though from what you see?

Ok thank you for the quick reply! I really don't want to pay for a mongoose unless absolutely necessary. Truck runs fine but as I work in IT, knowing I'm behind so many updates and features it bums me out. I haven't looked at that thread yet but will once this reply goes through but if I could be added to the list that would be great.

Also with the mongoose, will that be able to push me to the latest update quickly and all at once or will it still take a long time to get it to the current versions. Assuming it'll just take years because of the OTA updates versus manually doing it right?

It will take minimum 16 hours straight of module programming to get it done. If you dedicate a weekend to it, you can get it done in a weekend. Certain modules (APIM, GWM, TCU & IPC) have to be installed in a sequence and you cannot go from an old version to the latest in one shot. Other modules that are updated via CAN can take 1-3 hours to update, and others will just take 3-10 minutes each. Collectively though, this will take 2 full days to do.

I will add you to the list and message you when your turn comes up and we can revisit the process then.

Awesome, thank you so much!

Is this something common with these years of trucks? This is my first Ford truck and love it outside of dealing with the tech side of it lol. Buddy has one that is the same year and model but his works just fine and gets updates regularly. I know others have had this happen I just didn't know if it's rare or pretty common

Yes it did happen to many job 1 2021 trucks like yours and mine. Click my sig where it says "if you have a 2021 and cannot turn on auto-updates" for a detailed explanation of the issue and the fix. In your case, the issue is fixed and it is just a matter of getting it caught up. Once you're up to date, the OTA process will do a decent job of keeping you there.

Awesome, that's good news. Glad it's just the updates now. Was quite the process for them to get the APIM replaced and didn't have my truck for over a month during a house move so it was rough lol.

Again I appreciate your help and quick replies! Look forward to hearing from you in the future!

Hi ? first post. I want to look up my Vin to check updates

So I just recently updated my screen from 8 to 12 but had to many bugs. So I decided to buy a new 12 Apim and install it. Everything is working great now. However the apim is on an old update and I never had it Pmi to my truck thru fdrs yet. I still have fordpass navi pretty much everything's working besides the connectivity settings . I checked the bezel diagram and everything's connected but when I open apim diag it's not showing any data as if it's not connected. So hence no connection for updates.

Looking for OTA and FDRS updates. Just picked up a used 21 and think it's a bit behind

Thank you so much in advance. You're the man!

I’ve been having a lot of battery issues and deep sleep issues lately, even after replacing my battery can someone check my VIN to see if I have any updates pending?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you don't update them in that order? I updated with FDRS a few months ago and not sure I did it in that order. It gave me a prompt that the one update required multiple modules to be updated also and I just followed the prompts. Starting a few weeks ago I've been getting the icon that says an update will install at the scheduled time but nothing ever happens and the icon will randomly come and go

It's really not a big deal unless the truck is VERY out of date, so don't worry about it.
