I have been stuck on the download and install of 6.3. I replaced the main battery, have a battery tender plugged in, properly.

This morning on my way back to school after an extended illness that there was an update to install and not drive the truck, then is switched to an update error. I never did get to the starting of the truck, so I closed the door, locked it up and this evening no error, nothing.

I would love to get this resolved but short of paying a dealership, which has declined due to short staff, or buying my own mongoose, any ideas would be appreciated.

I guess I could email and call a person at Ford Headquarters and she would probably browbeat my dealer, but I don't think you should have to do this for such an expensive vehicle, that we all own.

Thanks

Dang Big Daddy.
That's some serious recall.

That would imply that I was past 1.7.1 when I jumped into FDRS? I do remember a bit of a tug of war with the USB update, requiring multiple key cycles. I retro-associated it with the infamous APIM purgatory.

I guess it might have been past that point though. I'd have to go back to confirm.
What is this usb update you’re speaking of? Is this something that can be done in place of using the mongoose and FDRS? Man…. If so I’d gladly pay someone to get me set up!!

The short answer is, No what your asking isn't possible. In early 2022 many trucks were hung on the 1.7.1 ota update, normally in FDRS you make a usb stick thru FDRS then transfer it to the USB port in the truck for installation then return the USB stick to the laptop to complete the operation. On certain module updates such as the APIM in this case. The problem back then was that the truck wouldn't complete the install for a couple of days and in some cases weeks. Once it kicked off and installed then you still had to go back to FDRS to complete the operation. So, Yes the mongoose and FDRS is the only way you can install updates on your truck.

Good Morning Rugedraw. I've been watching this thread but didn't want to bother you, but I'm getting worried since my last update was last September. Could you check my truck and see if I have anything que-ed? I paid for the BlueCruise renewal and thought I might have seen an update by now, but I haven't. Thank you, I appreciate you.

Hey. I haven’t seen updates for quite a few months, and I was wondering if someone could possibly help me out and let me know if my truck is stuck or I just need to be patient. I have a 2021 PB.

VIN: 1FTFW1ED6MFB20592

Thanks in advance!
Last OTA was 4.2.4 back in October. You're missing the 6.x.x updates as well as some bug fix updates. In your case, I think it is just a matter or patience. just looks like no love from the OTA gods. I don't see reason to be concerned as far as there being an issue with your truck.

The OTA failed to install on 2/19 due to the folllowing error:

"errorCode":"DiffSpaceCheckFailed(83)""errorCategory":"ERROR_CATEGORY_ALM(3)""ecuId":"2000""fpn":"PU5T-14H009-FAB"

I do not know exactly what that means, but it is nothing you did wrong and it did not fail due to your battery. Nothing you can do now but wait for it to be resent and hope for better luck next time.

Same situation as the first person I responded to on this post. Last OTA was 4.2.4 followed by a PU APIM update after that. so you're needed the 6.x.x updates and some bug fix updates. Your truck is fine. Many people stopped getting updates where you guys are at, but the issue is Ford's crappy OTA process and not your truck.

Hey there, I upgraded my XLT mirrors to lariat folding mirrors. Half way thru install (1 mirror) I tested the forscan setting and it worked. I installed the other mirror but didn’t realize they were now out of sync. So I “reversed” one of them so they were sync’d again. However, neither the Lincoln fold or the auto fold feature will work. 100% certain it’s programmed correctly. I eventually gave up and just press the button when I want them folded in a tight space. I just got 6.2.0 a couple weeks ago. Now when I fold the mirrors, get out and power lock the doors, the mirrors extend back out. Nothing I can do can get them to stay folded with the doors locked. WTF! Any thoughts?

Not my area of expertise. This may gain more traction in the FORScan thread:

I got my truck in to have them perform the update you guys were great at telling me I needed done. I was hoping if someone could search my VIN to make sure the dealer actually did the update and aren’t just telling me they did haha I also am wondering if my truck is showing any issues because today I started having a new issue where if I come to a complete stop at a red light then when I take my foot off the brake it doesn’t gradually move as I would expect it to, but once I touch the gas, even gently, it jerks the whole truck and then moves.
VIN: 1FTFW1ED6MFD03054

you guys are awesome in this group!

They did do the DSP update and nothing else. That module will not affect the drivability of your truck though. Your truck is not reporting any codes relevant to what you're saying. I am not sure what to say about jerky movements.

Thank you again rogedraw! Hopefully it’s just one of those fun glitches that goes away after the truck sits overnight haha have a good one!

Thank you Rugedraw. All those software updates need to be done, is that it? Or is it showing that they have been done? I had it at the dealer yesterday and they didn't mention anything. No problem taking it back if that's what you suggest I should do.

The dealer will not do the updates as Ford does not pay them for the labor hours associated with module updates. They will only do updates that they can tie to a recall or or CSP as that is the only way they can get paid for their work.

Thanks again. That's very interesting and something I hadn't heard before. Rugedraw you're one of the reasons this forum is so good. ?
