Yeah...think I'm thinking I'll just bite the bullet and have the new APIM installed. Don't trust myself or the dealer to do the work.
It probably wouldn’t hurt to print out the TSB and at least show it to the dealer. Maybe you’ll get lucky (very lucky) and your dealer has done it before.

They didn't do sh*t. You have a GWM update sitting in your queue for 5 days. GO start your truck as that is the only thing that will give it permission to install.



Your truck has all the 4.x.x updates and the APIM update that comes after that. You are missing the 6.x.x updates and a few bug fix updates. Last OTA sent was in September of last year. Not terribly behind.



If you were able to connect to Fordpass, then you are not affected by this issue.
Is there a chance that my OTA’s didn’t happen because of a low battery? I’ve only had the truck a week but I’m getting low battery light and a few features that don’t work because the display says the truck is charging the battery? Really appreciate all the help you guys are. Coming off GM for the last 30 yrs or so…. This is very different for me!!

Is there a chance that my OTA’s didn’t happen because of a low battery? I’ve only had the truck a week but I’m getting low battery light and a few features that don’t work because the display says the truck is charging the battery? Really appreciate all the help you guys are. Coming off GM for the last 30 yrs or so…. This is very different for me!!
A low battery will not prevent the server from queueing up an update for your truck. It will only have an affect on the installation part of the update. Your truck is reporting low battery voltage to the cloud consistently. If you have a battery charger, I would fully charge the battery and then try a BMS reset. If the low battery conditions persist, then you should replace it. All these newer vehicles (Ford, GM, etc) have a complicated module network that puts a strain on batteries.

Just FYI: All manufacturers have issues with OTA's. This is not a Ford only problem.

A friend of mine is thinking of buying 1FTFW1ED4MFC95052. Any red flags? I will help him update but it would be nice to know how far back this 21 is

Last OTA is got was 3.5.2 and that was 3 days ago. No OTA history prior to that. It is one OTA away from full-screen carplay/android auto. It is a bit behind, but at least it isn't stuck not getting updates.

I appreciate you doing FDRS check ups and taking a load off of my shoulders, but let me help you out. If you hold control and the - key, you can make the screen fonts smaller and fit all the updates into one screenshot.

Agreed, but bringing an APIM out of the broken sync software is not a straight up guided routine in FDRS.
I'll agree that the TSB is a cumbersome procedure, but I seem to remember a considerable number of trucks getting out of purgatory by simply updating successfully with FDRS, but for sure by driving around with the files on the USB hub for several days/weeks.
The TSB procedure was far from the most common method of success.

Of course I'm pretty old and maybe my recollection is faulty?
It's certainly all documented in the first year of the FDRS thread.

The USB tricked stopped working so Jesse stopped doing it a while back ago. That was by far away the best method and the path of least resistance.

I think, (dangerous) that it stopped getting the expected results consistently, or guaranteed, if Jesse created the files FOR the customer. (without an FDRS scan of the truck)

Which is very different than the USB stick being populated with the necessary files via a direct FDRS scan on the truck itself.

I don't blame Jesse for halting the method he was using for so generously creating APIM updates for folks that didn't even have FDRS or a mongoose. But correct me if I'm wrong, if you have FDRS and a mongoose and can scan the truck and run the APIM update, then nothing has changed since we were all doing the get-out-of-purgatory APIM update collectively.

And to be honest, not all trucks even required the drive around for days technique. Some percentage, including my 2021 Platinum Powerboost, took the APIM update without the daily driving procedure. Although it did take a few key cycles to finally get it to "kick off", so to speak.

Yes, but the times I have personally ever seen that work, you can count on the fingers of on one hand.
