Could someone look up what the dealership did yesterday on my truck? They performed the BlueCruise service action, but I already had BlueCruise and was on OTA 6.2.0. It appeared as though they updated something as my cluster brightness had changed, but maybe not.

That dsp update made a massive improvement in sound

What system do you have? I haven’t noticed any audio quality improvements or differences in my Unleashed after the DSP update.

I did the acm at the same time so it could be that one I suppose.

I have unleashed.

it rebalanced the volumes of each speaker. The speakers in the corner of the window shield are much louder now as well as the roof speakers.
also added a concert hall type of echo sound effect that wasn’t there before.

it’s not just me either others have commented that it was obviously improved.

I did the ACM as well. Haven’t noticed anything different. Hard to separate whether the improvement you have detected came from the software changes or your tweaks. I thought the DSP was supposed to address the pop and static and the ACM was to address the misdirected chimes. If these software changes also made a dramatic sonic improvement Ford should be saying more about them, because a lot of people have been somewhat unsatisfied with the Unleashed.

As far as OTA's go, you've had 4.2.2.2 fail three times, but these updates were sent to the truck while it was sitting in the dealer lot before you bought it. Since no one turned the truck on while the updates were in the queue, they timed out and failed. Your truck is fine and the updates you are missing will be sent to you eventually.

All the did was the latest APIM update. You're now on Sync 23291.

No, not crazy. But you have to account for the placebo effect and hyperbole (and possibly a reset of previously-changed parameters to default settings), particularly if someone was considering burning $50 on an FDRS license renewal with the expectation of "massive" improvement. I noticed no improvement, let alone improvement so dramatic that it was obvious. Neither did my wife. And I haven't seen a TSB or SSM from Ford suggesting that these updates improved sound quality.

I'm glad it seems to have worked for you but I'm not sure everyone can expect similar results.

I'm not sure we can say that every single F150 with Unleashed left the factory with the same exact hardware and software and sound.

So if 500,000 of those trucks applied the same update, I wouldn't be surprised if it affected some differently than others.

Afterall, not every one of those trucks experienced identical issues. Some popped like a military bombing range. Others, not a peep. And still others somewhere in between.

I have seen some people report improvements after doing a bunch of updates including the ACM and DSP ones. Depending on what updates were also done along with those, there are some recent updates that include improvements to phone streaming, so I think that has something to do with the improved sound. I did the DSP update only because I've been a victim of the infamous B&O boom/static problem twice. The ACM update I've had showing for months, I have not done. I'm very happy with the way my sound system sounds right now. As a matter of fact, I've backed up my current ACM software in case I get the OTA and I don't like it, I can go back to the current software easily.

Keep in mind that I have aftermarket speakers swapped/added to my Unleashed system, and 95% of the time I listen to music, I stream using Qobuz for Hi-Res audio, and I only use a wired connection for Android Auto. Bluetooth is no bueno for music streaming.

Fair point. I certainly can’t rule out hardware differences as a variable. But which way does that cut? Ford’s most recent SSMs discussing the ACM and DSP updates (51926, 51778) don’t say anything about improving sound quality. They are corrective only. So, if you do actually get a sonic improvement from these updates, aren’t you really just getting a fortuitous side-effect from an update designed for another purpose—a side-effect that you can’t really bank on?
