I do have my truck set up for a good wifi signal when it is in the garage. Are the OTA updates always sent over Ford's cellular network (I definitely know I've gotten them that way in the past), or does Ford use wifi when available? I guess I'm wondering if leaving the truck set to connect to wifi when available is a good thing, or an interfering thing, or just doesn't matter!

I can tell you that people have reported getting OTA's while connected to wifi. I can also tell you that not a single OTA released for our trucks requires wifi to download. I do not think it matters.

Yeah it’s unfortunate how many of them just lie rather than just being honest.

After perusing the 600+ pages on this topic I am now in negotiations with the Ministry of Finance. Windows laptop, mongoose cable, FDRS license, etc. The negotiations are at a standstill !! The Minister asked " Does the truck stop, go, tow the boat, travel trailer? Does not understand the technology built into trucks these days. Oh how I long for the good old days.

Anyone able to opine on my vin below for updates. Bought new 22 last Friday. Tried all the “tricks” for update with obvious no success. Sharing in many aforementioned ailments shared here. Blue cruise maps out of date so not working. Other little bugs. Much appreciated. Also was curious. If truck was parked at dealer lot for x amount of months. Do updates not go through until a ford pass is linked to truck ? Why reject all the ota? Thanks !

You received 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 in Janaury. As far as OTA's go, you are only missing the 4.2.x updates that were only recently released.

There are to "tricks" to trigger an OTA being sent to you. Nothing you find online will work.

You would need someone with FDRS to provide you with a list of module updates.

Edit: They tried to update your APIM today and it failed due to low battery voltage. They reset your BMS, but have not tried to update it again yet.
