I am getting the common low 12 volt battery messages on my 23 powerboost with only 2500 kms. I took it to the dealer and they said the batteries are fine. I am thinking of just changing the battery myself, just wondering is it the one under the hood, or the one in the rear. Also after changing the battery, is there anything I need to do, such as a bms reset? Also taking recommendations on batteries and size. Thanks.

What model F-150 do you have? If you don't have a powerboost, then you can fit an H-8 in the battery tray. You will need to get a different battery wrap from Ford. Just take some measurements to ensure the battery will fit. You will have to do a BMS reset, easily done , you can search the procedure. As for manufacture, many people have different opinions. For myself, I use Napa [Deka] or Interstate. Many have suggested Walmart's Everstart brand. Whatever brand you are comfortable with and have easy access to get a warranty replacement. Buy yourself a good battery maintainer and put the truck on it whenever possible, especially if your truck is only used for short drives or occasional use. I use a Noco genius 10. Also, look up how to properly attach the charger so that the Bms sees the fully charged battery. Good luck.

Try charging it, then reset BMS when fully charged.
Powerboost truck use the trick with fan speed on 5 to put more power into battery.
H7 is largest you can go with Powerboost truck.
Doubtful that new battery is bad as mentioned it could be short commute.
PB is not the same as regular trucks when it comes to how it charges the 12v battery.

@Snakebitten knows more about these things.

I'm just a PID nerd. :)
I watch the operating parameters that tell me the story that I'm intrigued with knowing. After enough miles pile up, you at least become familiar with what is/should be happening.
It really becomes valuable if anything suddenly falls out of the norm.

The Powerboost is an amazing ensemble of components. And the amount of code in play is a bit daunting when you consider.

There are at least 2 different H7 batteries. Some posters here had H7 batteries with 760 (give or take) CCA. The H7 that came with my MY22 PB provides 800 CCA.

Bet you that my 621 days old battery would check out as just fine at the dealership. But it gets nursed to keep it from triggering the alerts. I don't know exactly what the threshold is for the trigger, but below is the voltage available to the truck just by walking up to it:

Ford F-150 Replacing Battery 1000019292

Note that the Voltage immediately drops to 12.1 Volts, and the AGM-Aux battery combo is taking a 10 Amp hit.

If I didn't drive it every day, and/or treat it to a Noco trickle charger when I see it drop below 12V on approach, I'm convinced I would be posting the same complaints that others do with the odd low voltage behavior of the Powerboost.

I personally believe that the factory Motorcraft battery isn't the quality of the Motorcraft batteries of the past.
