Hi, I wish to replace my air filter.
There are so many choices. I saw people mentioned the FA1883. Should I go up to the premium one? Or any other recommendation?
Thanks.

I went with something a bit different, it has also helped with the faint "mildew" issue our F150 Gen. is plagued with. I changed mine almost 10 days ago and worth it, to me.

FRAM (CF12150) Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter Replacement, w/ Arm and Hammer Baking Soda.

I think OP is looking for engine air filters, but as far as cabin filters go I’m trying the K&N

I just noticed that I was reading it off my phone while chowing down on some lunch! Couldn't see the blow-up pic they originally posted.

All is good!

If you want a good cabin air filter stick with the Motorcraft FPP-92. The extra P is what you’re after ya ding dong
Nah, this new cabin filter is (a game changer) doing a better job than the Motorcraft one that the Ford dealer had in there.

And speaking of Ding-Dongs, when was the last ime you had one? :p

I try to avoid Fram filters based on the videos etc I have seen on their oil filters on the internet.

Engine air filter.

Motorcraft FA-1883, Amazon or Walmart, and you're good to go.

I have had the best fit with the OEM filters and the worst fit with the aftermarket ones, including the Fram filters.

This might be a dumb question, but does anyone know if there's a significant difference between premium and standard air filters for our powerboost engines?

Probably the biggest difference is the K&N filter allows more dirt to pass through.

I work on a construction site and live on a dirt road so I deal with a lot of dust. For the engine, I have been using PurolatorONE Advanced Engine Air Filter every 10K and it has been catching a lot of dirt. The pleats on the filter are a bit deeper than the OEM Ford filter and the material is good quality.

For the cabin air filter I just got a generic OEM equivalent from Amazon at 25k. That was a mistake, it made the cabin smell funny so I just swapped my old original filter back in.

I used to work on dodge diesels with the 12v cummins in them a lot as a semi-hobby. One thing I saw a lot of was k&n filters in the stock air box. I got in the habit of taking the hose between the filter box and the turbo inlet off and wiping my finger around in it. In just about every case where there was an aftermarket oiled filter, I found a small amount of dust. In no case except where there was a cracked or broken housing did I find that with a paper filter. It didn't have to be a stock brand filter, this was true of just about any paper filter. Take this however you want, feel free to disregard it. My takeaway from that is that if you want an engine to last hundreds of thousands of miles with little bore/ring wear, don't run an oiled gauze type filter on it. If it's a performance engine and isn't going to be expected to last a very long time it's probably fine. I don't pretend to know where the switchover point in total mileage is, but I think it's bad policy to run something like a diesel, particularly an older cummins that is known to last over a million miles, with a filter that you can see does not filter all of the dust.
