Note: Recirculated air could turn off or be
prevented from turning on in all air flow
modes except maximum cooling to reduce
the risk of the windows fogging up.

Note: Recirculated air could turn on and off
when you direct air to the instrument panel
or footwell air vents during hot weather to
improve cooling efficiency.

It keeps turning off at random.
I can’t get the recirculate to stay on. I’ve tried every combo I can think of.
Is anyone else having this issue?

thanks
I ALSO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM, I HAD A 2020 FORD F150 XLT LARIAT THAT DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I ALWAY KEEP MY AIR ON RECIRCULATE NO MATTER THE TEMP OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. I DONT LIKE THE OUTSIDE SMELLS COMING INTO MY TRUCK. I HOPE WE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT. I MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE ADVISORS AND THEY LOOKED AT ME LIKE I HAD 3 HEADS.... BUT IF YOU GOOGLE THE PROBLEM SEVERAL FORD VEH HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE SO THERE HAS TO BE A FIX OR SOLUTION. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO DECIDE TO KEEP IT ON OR OFF ON MY OWN TERMS.

I had this happen to me as well on a long drive. I think someone mentioned in another thread that the truck does it automatically to prevent the windows from fogging up. Even if that is the case, it would be great if it could be disabled because I am pretty good at making sure my windows don't fog up.

Noticed this in my truck yesterday. Recirc was on, light was on, but periodically it would start blowing hard for a few minutes like recirc was turned off, but light was still on. But it appears from post above it's supposed to do that.

Did anybody find a fox for this?! My new 2021 XLT is doing the same thing and it’s really annoying. First Ford and f150 owner here too. Any other quirks I should know?

From the manual.

SWITCHING RECIRCULATED AIR ON AND OFF
Press the button to recirculate air currently in the passenger compartment.

Note: Recirculated air could turn off or be prevented from turning on in all air flow modes except maximum cooling to reduce the risk of the windows fogging up.

Note: Recirculated air could turn on and off when you direct air to the instrument panel or footwell air vents during hot weather to improve cooling efficiency.

I think this is normal on newer vehicles with auto climate control. My BMWs do the same thing. It's controlling humidity

I can't keep the recirculation on for more than 2-5mins. And once it turns off, it won't turn itself back on. If I turn on max cold, it sets the temp to LO. As soon as I raise it to somewhere in the 60s, it turns off the recirculation. During a three hour drive yesterday, I probably had to touch the recirculation button over two dozen times to not smell the nasty outside air. Never had this issue with any other vehicle in over 30 years of ownership. Maybe there is a forscan option to disable the humidity silliness ?

I have this same issue but it’s just only a slight annoyance. I only have used recirc a few times and it’s been due to a semi or old truck in front of me burning oil and I don’t want to smell it. I didn’t even noticed it had turned off after an amount of time. I’m used to being in control but I can learn to live with it. As long as it works when the ac is on next summer I’m fine with it.

I think some of the little things that this truck does, like turning off the recirculate, auto high beams, traction control, ect., has to do with lawyers being involved since Ford had the tire issue way back when. Todays trucks are making it so nobody has to know how to drive, park or when to add air in the tires, except to start it and tell it where you want to go. With all the features that the truck does for the driver, I wonder when the last time you looked around your truck to see if anything has come loose or close to dragging on the ground. Soon all that will be on the dash will be a place to plug in your phone, mic and speaker. Everything will be hands free and voice control.

Just something that comes to mind as technology grows more and more.

As we were driving from RVA to JAX today, it started off in the 40s F. Same issue, recirculation would only stay on for 5mins. Once we made it into the Carolinas, the outside temp raised to the 60s F. At this point, the recirculation light stayed on and never turned off. It seems it is related to outside temps being "cold" even though we had the AC on too. However, as we made it into GA and it was in the 70s, even though the recirculation light stayed on, we could feel it turning it off and on automatically even though the light never went off. So it appears there are two behaviors for it.
