So I apologize if this is a repeat question, I tried skimming whole thread. I have a 2022 Built in Dec21, which hasn't been updated with anything beyond Forscan to this point. I got the Recall notice, but reading this thread, and checking my AsBuilt data, it looks like I already have latest version?

It’s the latest I know of. But, “latest” depends on who you ask. If you ask your dealer, he‘ll pull up new TRM software in FDRS and conclude that this software is ”newer.” And in some sense, it is in that it fixes a fairly recent problem (an anti-theft false alarm) and is F150-specific instead of generic software written for several models. But it wasn’t written to correct the braking problem and at least one person has reported that the problem is still there after the “update.”

I was able to have this completed today by a dealer. Based on the discussion on this thread I called yesterday afternoon to confirm they had the software before taking it in, they said they schedule warranty work a week in advance to make sure they can get parts/software in and cancel if not. Perhaps they had indication it would be released today or perhaps they were making an assumption and it did get released today. I'm going on a road trip with trailer soon and will see if we have any issues.

I was one of the earlier cases of "maybe" getting the recall and my software version was updated to "-BB. " Before I go back to my dealer and nerd-splain to them that the correct recall version is "-DH," is that the definite version on 2021 Job 1 vehicles or is there any table to which vehicles should have what version? As others have reported, notice is gone from my Fordpass app.

Unfortunately, we don’t know for certain what the definitive version of the recall software will be for earlier-production vehicles. -DH is generic software written for several models and appears to be the latest version seen on late production units with late-revision hardware versions. It exists, but it hasn’t been released to FDRS for dealers or DIY’ers to install.

At this time, since you have -BB, the latest F150-specific software released to FDRS, there is nothing to discuss with your dealer. If you brought your truck in now, your dealer will see your truck as up to date when it hooks it up to FDRS. FDRS does not offer dealers the ability to pick and choose among software versions or even see the version number before they install it. So, they will see no new software presented and just send you on your way. If you were to tell them about -DH, they’d just look at you dumbly and say no new software shows on FDRS for your truck.

Im supposed to be towing a 7000lb camper trailer to the NC mtns on Friday, so I have some real urgency to figure this out.

Lastly, do ALL trucks under the recall experience the problem, only some, or is it sporadic? I just got my truck and have yet to tow a trailer to see if it has the issue.

No way to answer your question. The failure is intermittent, but the software glitch that causes it is in all units subject to the recall.

The February software update isn’t the “wrong” software. It is F150-specific and written to fix a different issue. I haven’t heard of it making the brake failure issue any worse. It hasn’t for me. So, if you’re willing to make two trips to your dealer I’m not sure there’s any harm to installing it so long as you understand that it probably leaves you in the same position you were in were before as far as potential brake failure goes.

No way to know what effect it will have on your ability to get later recall software if and when it comes out. You’ll no longer be on a recall list but that doesn’t prevent you from staying on top of the issue yourself and returning to a dealer once the uncertainty is resolved and new software is released.

I'm not sure folks understand that these new trucks have a very intimate relationship with a server in the cloud, so to speak. They have conversations while you are asleep counting sheep.

As a result, anyone with the license to query the server with your VIN can tell you what updates that the Ford server will make available for that VIN. It doesn't matter if the truck itself is in your driveway or on vacation in Colorado.

Indeed he did.
It was still on the choochoo train, but I had the VIN. I looked it up in FDRS and sure enough a BRAND new truck had an available update for the TRM waiting for it before it even had been delivered. ??

I brought it home the day before yesterday.

It went under the knife 5 minutes after I parked it.
OH, and by the way, Jesse confirmed the update sitting in the queue is not the TSB. Pretty strong evidence that the TSB isn't available yet regardless of what so many have been led to believe.

Anyone with a license to FDRS can query a VIN to find out if you have updates available. But it takes specialized software and licenses to actually unpack an update to see what version it is, what specific files are loaded, etc. Not even dealers can do that. @Jesse-Infotainment has that capability but I’m not sure anyone else regularly participating on these threads does.

This is the most compete description of the problem I’ve seen from Ford and it isn’t overly helpful:

“On February 8, 2022 the supplier reported to Ford that they experienced an improperly functioning TBC while driving an exemplar Super Duty vehicle. Supplier diagnostics identified a potential vulnerability between two instructions within the software where the processing does not complete as intended, resulting in the TBC brake output signal not being properly sent to the trailer while driving.

Further diagnostics found that the software concern identified on the Super Duty vehicle may also be present on the 2021-2022MY F-150 currently under investigation by CCRG.”

As for sending out the letters before the software was ready, I’m speculating that it was Ford’s misguided attempt to keep the government off it’s back. They told NHTSA in March when the letters would go out, so they sent them out when they said they would.

My strategy moving forward is to get the recall done whether correct or not to keep the liability with Ford as I have nothing to loose other than it doesn't work and I have to take it in again some time. The letter states that Ford can deny coverage from any vehicle damage as a result from failure to have the recall performed. Also in the rare event something happens having a insurance company deny coverage for the same reason. It also states Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving the vehicle.
