I renewed my license and performed a network scan in FDRS on my truck this morning. Although the TRM is not listed among the modules already programmed to the latest available software level, no new software is offered for installation.

Very helpful, Ford.

Per a previous post, my truck came with the -DH version. Received the recall letter today (dated April 28). Given the later date (Ford told NHTS that notices should go out on the 18th), thought I’d call the Ford customer care number provided in the letter to see if the fix is available. Unfortunately the rep had no clue as to what I was taking about, and since “he’s not a tech”, wouldn’t be able to get an answer. His advice was to call the dealer and see what they say. What a cluster-f***

And just to clarify - DH is not the solution. Picked up my camper this weekend, and minimal power is being delivered to the trailer brakes (only one “bar” indicated on the controller display). Even with the manual slide maxed out, I could not lock up the wheels.

Thanks for that info. BTW do you know what TRM hardware version (F113) is in your truck? Also, regarding the Ford "customer care" phone number provided in the letter you received, are the last four digits 3673, or is it a different phone number?

The “Ford customer relationship centre” number was 1-888-222-7814 (though I’m in Canada).
(F113): ASSEMBLY version is MU5T-19J294-DH
For completeness,(F188): STRATEGY (SW VERSION) is MU5T-19J297-DH

I received the 22S17 Trailer Brake Controller Recall letter last week and set up an appointment for the software update. The scheduler assured me that the software update was available. Went in to the dealer today (5/4) and was told that the fix was not available. The service tech said they have had a lot of issues with this and advised me not to be one of the first to get the update when it becomes available. I talked with several people at Ford Customer service and they stated that the engineers are still working on a fix. He had no idea when the fix might be available. I told him I needed to use the trailer or I am out of business. He basically said too bad, so sad. Missing my 2014 so much...

From what I understand the trailer module still works perfectly with some trailers, sporadically with some, and pitches a fit with others.
So while waiting, if I intended to tow, depending on how it behaves with my particular trailer, I'd remedy it one way or another.
I sure wouldn't cancel a vacation. If nothing else I'd go aftermarket.

It‘s available. Had it done yesterday

That is probably the TRM update that came out in January that fixes a communication error, that gave a faulty DTC. It seems that many dealers see that in FDRS and think its the recall update, when it's not. Did the same thing to my neighbors F150 too.

Although, since your in Canada, maybe they have it available for your region.

Yeah….about that. You got the software that was released in February and not the fix for the recall.

Jesus dealers are fucking this up. @Ford Motor Company how are you ok with this? Why do people on the internet have more knowledge than your dealers??????

It's not in FDRS so dealerships won't have it... don't think this has been proven otherwise yet.
