Stopped by my local dealer while I was out for a mental health ride on one of the bikes and honestly, I can't figure out why anyone would buy a Ranger. 46K for a XLT FX4. They are all CC with tiny beds but they sit almost as tall as a F150. Interior was cramped looking and the center screen was quite small. I don't think I could put a full size bike in the bed even with the tailgate down. I know most people never use their trucks for truck stuff but at least I'd want the capability.

Trucks have gotten so big because of EPA fuel economy rules being based on vehicle footprint, and the suburban dad preference of having an SUV with a bed they’ll seldom use (really looking in the mirror here)

For prices you can thank inflation and people’s willingness to take out 96 month financing to buy what they can’t afford.

These trucks are targeted toward folks who are non-tallish, slimmer kind of folks.

Still a good 20,000 less then a f-150
F-150s have much bigger discounts.

I bought my 2021 Ranger XLT Tremor for $41k, which was a steal. It was an old unit rotting on the lot.

I bought my 2024 XLT 302a, Tow/ Haul, BAP, 5.0l, 4x4 for $51k. Today I can probably buy my truck for $49k with the discounts offered.

Rangers don't get big discounts. Most are MSRP, or maybe $2k off.

The F-150 is a much better deal.

I think, not really. Every dealer around ATL has at least 10K off sticker on F150's plus cash offers, etc. Dealer I got my truck from has XLT CC 4x4 for 51k, so really less than 10K. They are not discounting the Rangers hardly at all, though.

All I can think about or say to myself every time I see a Ford Ranger now.

That's the exact price of my ordered RCSB.

I thought about a Ranger at one point, but I realized it was stupid to pay as much for a way less capable truck. Plus, I absolutely DESPISE how they have completely ruined compact trucks.

Just. Make. A. Truck.

I ordered one back in '19, but my last trip down to the gulf coast (~950 miles), it just got too cramped for a 6'5" guy. Very happy with my 24 RCSB and I get better MPG's EASILY with a 5.0.....weird ?

I agree totally that Ranger is THE worst deal in the Ford lineup. There is a reason it disappeared in America for a long time. F-150 STX can be gotten in North Texas in 2WD Crew Cab for mid-$30s with discounts. Ranger XLTs go for that all of the time. It just isn't more to get into a STX (which after 2024 is trimmed up nicely). For a similar price, most go for the American icon - F-150.

The old Rangers were grat trucks. I really wish we'd bring back those era Rangers/S10s.

I wouldn't mind a Ranger if they made a crew cab 6 ft bed. I had a Tacoma in that format before and it was a good truck. The bed on my F-150 is already annoyingly small sometimes (wish they still made a Lariat SuperCab) - I wouldn't want to drop even more.

Size wise they kinda did with the Maverick. However, Maverick is a unibody not body on frame. I think the crazy success of the Mav, shows that there was always a hunger for the old sized small trucks.

I loved the old Rangers. My best friend growing up got an '87 Ranger that we modded the hell out of in high school. Almost everything I learned about cars/trucks came from the work we did on that (and my POS 1987 Ford Tempo - worst vehicle of the 80s, at least for Ford).

I just got my STX for $41k with free running boards and spray in bed liner.
