Production problems resulting in 7 month wait

I ordered my new Lariat on 8-3-2020. Finally received my vin today prod date of 2-1-2021 this sucks to have to wait 7 months. It has max trailer tow that might be the problem if so somebody needs to do better on scheduling. Has anyone else had to wait this long?

Your not alone. I ordered a 3.5 Plat with Max Tow and work surface. Ordered back in Sept. I also have a vin and a 2-1-2021 build date. Seems like all of us that ordered Max Tow now have the same build date or just somewhere to put us all. Just reading some of the other threads, alot of people have a 02/1/2021 date now.

I ordered my KR Powerboost Max Tow on 9/5 and I still do not have a VIN or even an estimated build date, so I'm envious of those of you that at least have some of this information.

Roger I think something is wrong with your dealer. One of mine entered on 11/5 and has build date 1/25, other one entered 12/2 and has build date 1/18. They each gave me the VIN already. Tracking them is useless currently as it just says scheduled and will for a while. But at least I verified all the info and one had to fix the order!

Anyway, there is some good news in that on another forum some King Ranches showed up in Minnesota, so at least some upper trims are getting released from Dearborn. (Kansas City seems to be free flowing as they don't have power running boards!)

I also see that of the 3 KR's listed in my 20 mile radius, all have been built but ONE of them says shipped 12/13 and is in transit to my closest dealer. I ordered mine in September. Platinum, hybrid, 4x4, moonroof - nothing else. Still no VIN or build. Emailed my dealer requesting they re-prioritize my order (apparently, it's currently code 015). No idea what's going on....

Glad for those that have VINs.

I ordered my Platinum on Aug 28th scheduled to build Feb 1....

But thought I would provide some background to the delays....

Although Ford started taking orders in July

- Production started at one plant around Oct 1.

- Only Stock order were able to be Schedule until Dec 2 (OKTB), No trucks were shipped prior to Dec 2. and many stock truck are held for rework.

- The first Retail order are schedule to be built in Mid Jan. Many of the early retail order (Aug -Oct) were schedule to be built the week of Feb 1. (About 7000 trucks are built a week.

- Due to Covid and other issues affected supply there are limited number of certain parts which very from week to week that may slow down your order.

- Recent items effecting Stock order scheduled prior to Dec 2 have include
- 5.0 Engine
- Hybrid Engine
- Transmissions for non hybrid engine
- Work Surface
- A particular black glossy wheel
- 20 inch all season Tires
- Spray in bed liner (not sure I understand this one)
- Retractable tonneau cover
- E-locker Rear end / Max Tow Package

Typically trucks are initially scheduled about 6 weeks out but there is the Christmas shutdown. Once caught up unless there is a supply chain issue custom order (Retail) truck will most likely take about 8 - 12 weeks after order.

I also have the max tow option and was told by my dealer yesterday that I have a 2/1 date. Question for all of those that have been told 2/1. Do you have a window sticker and does it show that date on the trackers? For me, I do not have a window sticker and it doesn't show anything on my trackers other than order placed (10/27/20).

Agate Black Platinum V8 at one of my local dealers. According to dealer, majority of plats come with max tow. This one was a blue sticker .. but a customer had already put a deposit on it weeks ago so I couldnt buy it

I feel your pain as well. I ordered on 08/14/2020 and still don't have a build date. --Lariat Supercrew, 502A Equip. group, Powerboost/Full Hybrid, Power Depoloyable Running Boards, Retractable bed cover. I contact dealer weekly, who says they inquire with their Ford rep, but still no updated info...
