Hello

I removed my tailgate and had a camper installed. Now the camera is looking like this. Anyone had this issue? Is it the issue of removing the tailgate or they messed something up? I wouldn't think they had to do anything with the camera system while installing the camper.

You can kinda still see the image... But it's blurry and green. Lost all colour it seems.

Thank you

I don’t know for sure but after a cursory search on google if you remove the tailgate and camera it can essentially mess with the ecu. I don’t have my ‘21 yet but I know the super duty’s used to have terminal caps to make the system learn that there is no camera there after tailgate removal. Like I said I’m not sure but just throwing that out there in case these new gen14’s have the same kinda deal.

The rearview camera is IN the tailgate. Removing the tailgate removes the camera.

Yeah. There are 3 cables to unplug now down below to remove the tailgate. 3 plugs were supplied to plug those connector back up. You would think that they made this feature for people to remove the tailgate, they would make sure that everything else should still work.

Yeah. I was expecting the backup camera to be gone. But in the picture, you can see the other 3 cameras are all messed up.

I believe that the stitching algorithm has to look for overlapping images and completely has no clue what to do when it doesn't get that expected overlap. Looks like they didn't account for this kind of issue in planning the algorithm. That is quite the oversight!

Look in the forscan spreadsheet. The APIM line

7D0-01-01

Has options for “rear cam not present” , setting it correctly may tell the system to disregard the rear cam when stitching the 360 views. There may be other settings involved (BCM) but it’s where I’d start. Just a thought.

My truck came with a plug kit in the glove box to use when you remove the tailgate. Did you use that kit to plug into the wire harness after you removed the tailgate?

Yeah. Thank you guys. I might have to pay the SC a visit.

Today I am going to go down and try to take those plugs off and put them back in again and maybe reboot the whole system somehow. When I go into the truck now, it still tells me the tailgate is down, so the truck difinately have no idea that the tailgate is removed.
