Pro Trailer Plug

Forgive me this has been answered before. I recently bought a new 2024 F150. The truck has the pro trailer backup assist knob in the cab but the plug int he back is just the 4 wire and 7 wire plug. Can I just switch plugs out and buy the pro trailer kit or is this more involved than that.

The Pro Trailer Backup Assist no longer uses the yaw sensor. Now it uses the camera in the tailgate and a checkered sticker you put on the trailer frame. If you look in the envelope that contained the documentation for your truck, you should see a packet with info on the Backup assist and a bunch of the stickers.

You can buy the pro trailer backup assist sensor kit on eBay or use the stickers. Sometimes the kit is behind the rear seat too.

Like others have said, currently Ford is shipping trucks with the stickers. I'd be surprised if you have the yaw sensor kit, but it would be behind the back seat if you do. You can use the pro backup assist with just the stickers, no extra connectors required.

That being said, if you want trailer camera or trailer TPMS, you'll need the kit. I have a 2021 and I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it working (replacing bumper harness, FORScan edits), but it all does. You might want someone else to chime in about whether 2024s are more readily equipped.

Thank you to everyone. I found the stickers and went through the process. It seemed to calibrate just fine
