I had this TSB applied earlier this year and the fix worked perfectly. Now that cold weather is slowly returning, it seems the problem is as well. I asked the local dealership about reapplying the TSB and they advised Ford is sometimes recommending replacing the transmission.

Has anybody out there replaced their tranny because of this recurring problem? If so, how long did it take?

Did they do any diagnostics? Was the adaptive strategy reset? If the adaptive strategy is reset and the transmission shifts smoothly, it's probably not the transmission. Just have them make sure it's the tranny before venturing down that road.

Haven't taken it in there yet, appointment is next Monday. I was definitely surprised when they told me they're replacing them.

I had the TSB done and it didn’t fix the issue. Truck still feels like it got hit from behind at stoplights. Another thread suggests that it’s a problem with the secondary transmission pump. Back to the dealer I guess - with another 1 month wait for an appointment! Ford should initiate a recall - if someone didn’t have their foot firmly on the brake they could lurch forward and hit another vehicle or a pedestrian.

Hey there! I can look into your F-150’s concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

They applied another fix, don't have handy, which one it was, but it seemed to resolve the issue.

Amazing ^

Applying an update to the module takes minutes. Literally. They'd be done before you finished your coffee.
I had my Powerboost in for a fix to the dashboard. The My View settings would constantly reset themselves. The fix took a week to get installed. The dealership said that the software would constantly get a certain way through and then crash.

It was funny when they completed the job on the first try they drove the truck out to me and said thanks, have a great day. The dashboard had no software, just dead. The gauges for speed and so forth didn't even work. I have an XLT so that was even more impressive that they were able to brick those analog gauges.

Anyways, I think you're right that it should go quickly. I just don't know if it was user error or if the Ford software was really that unstable.
