I recently had my 22 PB in for a few issues. One was ICE to EV and EV to ICE creak or squeal noise. After a back and forth with the service advisor I provided a copy of WA_502A’s (Thank you!) service receipt and a screenshot of the Ford Pass Service campaign to replace the “Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery system”. The service advisor quickly responded and said “ Great news your repair is covered “. I’ve read somewhere else on here that replacing that valve increased MPG. Sure enough mine went up several MPG immediately after getting it back from the dealership.

If you have an ESP (bumper to bumper type) it should be covered. Not sure which one you have but maybe have a look through
I have the PremiumCARE plan. This is what the brochure says is covered for the Emissions parts. Apparently "Exhaust Heat exchanger" isn't on here (unless it's just called something else in the brochure)

There's also a brand new CSP regarding the Exhaust Heat exchanger and Ford is warranting it now for 15 years/150,000 miles for a 1 time only replacement.

Admittedly it's not specifically for the noisy valve, but rather a malfunctioning valve. But maybe your noisy valve is an impending failure?
Thanks! I spoke to Ford Customer Service and told them about this, so they're talking with the service center about whether it's covered. I don't have a coolant leak though so I'm not sure it will be.

Yeah, I just checked and I've got this in my Ford Pass too. It's the same CSP that @Snakebitten mentioned. Keeping my fingers crossed. There's not certainly they say it's covered since I don't have a coolant leak.

UPDATE

After some back and forth between the service center and Ford customer service, the I was told by Ford that this isn't covered under my Premium Care ESP nor the drive train warranty. Ford did offer to "help" by covering $500 of the nearly $1,500 repair, but this isn't what I expected.

I mentioned the CSP that @Snakebitten and @Jasco informed me of and they're checking to see if it's covered under that. I'm worried they'll tell me it isn't because I don't have a coolant leak or a complete failure.

I guess if it isn't covered I'll just tell them not to fix it, I'll be charged the "Diagnostic Fee" and wait until I have a complete failure which would qualify me for the CSP.

On a plus note, I was given a Ford Mustang convertible as a rental which should be covered for some other work I had done; this is the second time the rear axle bolt of my MaxTow has been sheered off which is covered by CSB 22B34. I just hope they don't say it's only partially covered because they were done fixing that problem a few days ago and my Truck is in the shop for something else now.

Should be covered under hybrid warranty. Folks need to start dragging FMC into small claims asking them to point to another F150 with the part.

I'm not a tough customer, according to the Ford folks I have been doing business with for better than 20 years. But if they tried to weasel out of faulty exhaust heat exchanger, with the factory Hybrid warranty, ESP Premium, and that CSP?

I'm going to politely take it as far as I can exhaustively take it. It's an OBVIOUS manufacturer defect. I expect it to be treated as such.

I got premium care and debated dropping my 7/72 GEICO mechanical breakdown coverage that I pay a few bucks extra per month in my premium for and am glad I didn't.

The service advisor at the dealership tells me that the exhaust heat exchanger in CSP 24N04 is "a different part" (and it's one of the "first things he checked"). How many exhaust heat exchangers are part of this hybrid system?

Still going talk to Ford Customer Service, but I'm afraid they're going to point to this fine print in the PremiumCare brochure.

Sizable number of us should sign a petition and send it to Ford if they throw that fine print at you!

If nothing else. This should be covered under the emissions portion of the warranty.
This part is related to the hybrid systems proper operation. Also, catalytic converter is also emissions warranty item.
As you are in CA, and most likely bought your vehicle in CA, you have more enhanced warranty coverage/protection.

So, still dealing with this. Ford offered to cover ~$1K and the rental which would leave me with something like $500 to pay out of pocket. I tried speaking to a supervisor at Ford Customer service (which took forever since they give you no way to contact them directly and you have to wait for them to call at some random time of day). They claim that if the part number (PL3Z5A212B) isn't covered then they can't do anything to say it's covered by any of the warranties I've got (Powertrain, PremiumCare, or CA Emissions warranty).

I guess I can go to arbitration, but then I don't know if I can accept their financial assistance. I don't really want to be stuck paying for the rental and the diagnostic fee just to continue to have this issue.

It sounds like you have done a great job of pushing on this issue. You went from it being all on you to mostly on Ford. I know some would take a very aggressive approach to push this even further and likely spend a lot more time and experience more frustration. For $500 in a situation like this where you pursued multiple paths, I would take the offer on the table. Life is too short to be spend a lot time mired in this aggravating situation.

Ok I’m getting what sounds like a belt squeak when the ICE starts and stops at idle. Did we discover that the sound is likely the exhaust heat exchanger actuator and not a loose belt?
