I just bought my 22' PB a couple months ago. It was used, Certified Pre-Owned, just under 20K miles. My first Ford. Carfax showed the previous owner (Leaser) changed the oil twice. The dealership did again while Certifying. 1st at a dealership (Probably Syn Blend), 2nd at Brakes Plus (Probably something crappy), 3rd 2K later at dealer (Prob Syn blend). When I bought it I also purchased 8 services. I told the sales guy I'll only do this if it's Full Synthetic. He said yes and the contract says "coverage for conventional, synthetic, or diesel oil 6+ qts". So Friday I thought I would put this to the test. I just knew the Service Department was going to push me towards the blend. Here's how it went.

Me: "I'm here for a oil change appointment and I am requesting Full Synthetic per my pre-paid service contract"
SA: "Sir that contract is for Syn Blend which is what is recommended for your vehicle, it is not recommended to put Full Syn in your vehicle"
Me: "Where in this contract does it say Syn Blend, it says Synthetic, no blend, no semi, synthetic and Motorcraft says Full Syn meets all warranty requirements and meets the WSS-M2C961-A1 specification. Who told you it is not recommended, the accountant"
SA: "They meant Blend in the contract"
Me: "If they meant it, they should have used that text" .. "Look man either you put Full Syn in or cancel this appointment, so I can go next door and cancel this contract, because you're telling me they sold me a lie"
SA: "If I cover it this time will you continue your service?"
Me: "You better cover it every time or we'll just do this again"

So I got the Full Synthetic, lol. They did send me a video with the tech doing a virtual inspection, narrating what he was checking, which was cool. I am a former Commercial Aircraft Line Mechanic/Avionics Tech. and I usually change my own oil. I'm just doing this as proof of service for extended warranty reasons down the road. I will probably change it myself around 4.5K and let them change it at the computer's OCI.

so how do you know those cheeseballs actually put synthetic in it?

Nice to see another guy. I’m retired military/A&P. Worked government contracts mostly. Did work for painting company prepping plans for the painters shortly before I retired.

I hate when service personnel make you feel like you're the bad guy! That's total BS.

I've had that happen a couple times and I always stand my ground, but I also make sure to smile and try not get heated and act like a Karen when these situations arise. I'm sure alot of customers either cave and give in or go the nuclear option. Good on you for standing your ground!

I've got six quarts of Castrol Edge 5-30 and a Motorcraft filter ready to go. I'm just waiting on my Valvomax drain plug to get deliverd so I can do my first 5000 mile oil change. My meter on the dash said something like 60% the other day.......but I could of swore that I smelled fuel when I checked my oil too.
Not that this will eliminate fuel dilution......but I am also considering a dual catch can setup. Hoping to find a quality option that isn't $400+

Yeah I know, he did put the Full Syn part# on the invoice at least. I'm just gonna lean on trusting the tech, he seemed like a good guy. I just knew the company line I was gonna get from the SA after asking for Full Syn from others, so I was ready to spit facts. I'm not a ass about it, just super assertive and informed, lol. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, well in this case synthetic, lol.

I enjoyed my aviation career until 9/11 screwed everything up. I was a happy clam in DEN, had to move to Chicago ORD, then Philadelphia PHL. Got pretty depressed about living in Philadelphia. Quit, joined the IBEW Electricians Union in Denver. I'm a Foreman, just finishing a government building right now. Good to meet you FaaWrenchBndr

@Jmitchelltfo That's it, gotta be assertive but not a ass, and I believe I am right. I wasn't bluffing either, I was gonna leave and go right into the sales office and cancel the contract or at least ask why they said I could do Full Syn if I can't. It costs $50 after 30 days to cancel, and they will prorate if you used any of the services. I'm sure I'm gonna have to go through this each time. If I do get a hard no I will cancel this thing and just go to a ASE shop near me and just use a better spec oil for a cheaper service. Using the Manufacturer's Dealer is just good on paper if the extended warranty company (through the dealer)in the future tries looking for reasons to deny a claim. I'm pretty sure as long as it's done by a ASE shop they can't say much. This dealership is 1/2 mile from my house, so it is convenient.
