Regarding my truck leaking more in warmer temps - last two days/nights have been warm and the tray has been relatively dry (a few splatters, but no puddles), so no clue on temp affecting the leak. Will call today if able for an update on if they have an ETA yet.
This arrived in my inbox this morning straight from my caseworker at Ford Motor (I underlined part of it).

"I apologize for the delay, I am still waiting on the tracking number. Ford Motor Company has became aware of the known concern and has updated the part, thus involving a new part number as well. I have been made aware of this information and I am thinking that is the main reason for delay and reason why the part has not been issued a tracking number yet is because the part upgrade happened after the previous part was already released to the packager. I am continuing to work on your case today to research what I can do in this case.
Thank you for your patience and I apologize for the delay."

So it seems Ford sent out the original replacement part, finally realized it's defective, found a new supplier and assigned the part a new number and are now getting those out. I wonder how many owners got the wrong replacement.

*Edit*: Just received another update confirming that scenario:

"Yes, that is the updated part number, and you were told correct. Ford has released pieces, and one of those is your part for your vehicle, but because of the update with part/number, it caused the delay after the old one was already released, the packager did have to hold/stop shipment on the old component."

Just have to wait a little longer, I guess. Seems to be moving in the right direction. At least Ford Motor is now aware of the problem, in no small part due to our little forum.

Thanks for being a Guinea pig with the powerboost. Mine will be a late build 2022 at best, and i still have concerns if I should drop it for a regular 3.5 ecoboost.

There's a scene in the movie "Apollo 13" when they are go for staging and all of a sudden the astronauts are thrown back into their seats. That's kinda what it's like when you hit the gas on the powerboost. Hopefully, this "little glitch" with the heat exchanger is the last glitch, because I really love the hybrid so far.

@Nasto - So is it a different part # from ML3Z-5A212-V now, or is that the part they were supposed to send you and ended up trying to send you the - W part instead?

And the hybrid is great getting on the interstate. ?

Not quite sure where the "W" version comes in or whether that was ever a part for us. I've been told by my dealer and confirmed today by Ford that the "S" version was the original defective part and the "V" version is the new and improved part I'm waiting on.

When my dealer texted me last week and said the part was in and then a minute later said, whoops, it's not the right one, I'm assuming they caught the fact that they were sent the "S" version. The "packager" had to stop shipment of the "S" versions and are sending out the "V" versions now, therefore causing the added delay. I can live with that explanation. I'd rather they get it right than install the old part and be back to square 1 again.

Now I have this probably irrational fear that my dealer will sit around forever waiting on the “S” version somehow missing they they’re supposed to be getting the “V” version. Doubt that would happen though, but might ask my ford rep next week when they call and see exactly which one they have listed as waiting on right now lol

Yeah, I would definitely follow up on that to be sure, but since Ford had to stop shipment on the "S" version and replace with the "V", I can't see how your dealer would wind up with the wrong part at this point.

Thanks. I just talked to my parts guy. No updates on the "V" part shipping. Last notes from the supplier on 3/9 said they had 48 pieces in and were preparing to package and ship out. He also said there were 149 on nationwide back order (still).

That number is actually up to 54 pieces in, but who's counting? :ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure if I got the old or new version of part. See repair invoice, it's got a "w" . Also new one looks exactly like the old one. I'm 1 week post install on new exchanger and no leaks though so I'll take it.

So my Ford rep calls me this morning to tell me the “usual”, then she shocks me with a “buy-back” offer. I don’t know what to think. Does this mean they really dont have those parts and my truck will not be fixed in a foreseeable future ? So they rather buy it back ? I did not even mention or threatened them with Lemon law. What do y’all think ?

...and how is this not a recall yet? that still baffles me.

i spent 4 days and 1,900 miles driving back from Granger to SoFla and i havent seent my truck in 5 weeks since i got back home the second week of February.

at this point I'd actually rather them order me a new one honestly.

i cant imagine the shape and condition my truck is in sitting on a dealers lot in the Florida sun for 5 weeks without a wash, let alone even starting it.
