This arrived in my inbox this morning straight from my caseworker at Ford Motor (I underlined part of it).Regarding my truck leaking more in warmer temps - last two days/nights have been warm and the tray has been relatively dry (a few splatters, but no puddles), so no clue on temp affecting the leak. Will call today if able for an update on if they have an ETA yet.
"I apologize for the delay, I am still waiting on the tracking number. Ford Motor Company has became aware of the known concern and has updated the part, thus involving a new part number as well. I have been made aware of this information and I am thinking that is the main reason for delay and reason why the part has not been issued a tracking number yet is because the part upgrade happened after the previous part was already released to the packager. I am continuing to work on your case today to research what I can do in this case.
Thank you for your patience and I apologize for the delay."
So it seems Ford sent out the original replacement part, finally realized it's defective, found a new supplier and assigned the part a new number and are now getting those out. I wonder how many owners got the wrong replacement.
*Edit*: Just received another update confirming that scenario:
"Yes, that is the updated part number, and you were told correct. Ford has released pieces, and one of those is your part for your vehicle, but because of the update with part/number, it caused the delay after the old one was already released, the packager did have to hold/stop shipment on the old component."
Just have to wait a little longer, I guess. Seems to be moving in the right direction. At least Ford Motor is now aware of the problem, in no small part due to our little forum.
