The life time of the battery is related to how pure the chemistry components are. I have a 2006 Escape Hybrid bought new with its original traction battery. It is still going. About the only indicator I have is when new it would go about 2.5 miles on the battery when on level. Now it appears that it is about 1 mile. So it's aging, but still going and going!

The battery is a wear item and will need replacement. The good news is that it is tiny. Right now, you can get a used one on Ebay for $1000. My hope is that by the time they are coming due for replacement, a bigger option will be available for around that cost.

The cost of a replacement battery will driven by the purity specification of the manufacturer. From this will come the expected lifetime of that battery. I'm convinced that Ford has specified a high level of purity, so the OEM battery will likely have a oretty good lifetime. The aftermarket for these will be problematic...

Even brand new replacements are reasonably priced and are comparable to equivalently sized portable battery units like the EcoFlo.

As for the PB it is highly unlikely that there will be much if any aftermarket support for either increasing the hybrid battery unit capacity or OEM capacity replacements. Which means unless Ford releases a larger capacity battery pack for the 14th gen PB, we're likely stuck with what we have. That is of course considering the current battery tech. If there's a revolution in battery tech that vastly increases the density for physical cell size in the next 5-10 years then there certainly may be better options for us. Until then it is what it is unless someone other than Ford actually releases a larger capacity battery that will work in the PB.
