For anyone that has a 2021-2022 powerboost that has had the oil changed, do you have any tips for us newbs?

I am looking at a Fomoto valve for the oil drain but that does not look "hard". My concern is the oil filter. It looks like a cap style filter wrench is needed.

How is the draining of the oil when you do change the oil. Does it make a big mess or does Ford have it draining properly.

Any incite or tips will be greatly appreciated.

It should be the same as the regular 3.5 eco and there are tons of youtube videos.

If you have the underside bash shields the one behind the front wheels will have to be removed. The oil pan will then drain fairly well without mess. The filter will require a cap type adapter and a little oil will drain thru the holes in the bash shield. Not too messy either, but get a larger diameter drain pan.

You need to remove the rear underbody shield to get to the drain plug. Technically, you don't need to remove the front one, the oil filter will drain without getting too much on the cover. I posted about the filter wrench I got over here and it worked well once I figured out how to get me arm up in there and loosen the filter. The Powerboost had extra hoses in the way that are a real B.

I bought a Fumoto valve and now i can remove one 7mm bolt from the underbody shield and get enough sag to wedge my arm through and put a hose on the valve.

Get yourself a very good filter removal cap, one that fits and filter securely. Don’t go cheap. Also, as others have said, get a quick oil change valve or a very large catch pan. When you remove the plug the oil will literally shoot out a good couple of feet if you are on ramps.
