Powerboost 7.2kw and 2.4kw outlet questions

I am really interested in the power boost for my next f150, but the power outlets have me confused.

some 120v power tools have a startup power draw that is right around 2400kw or slightly more.

But the 7.2 kw outlet circuit is 240v.

Would these tools require some kind of voltage converter or transformer to use on the 7.2kw circuit ? Or is it better to my luck on the 2.4 kw / 120v circuit with a soft starter ?

The 7.2 kW generator has two 120 VAC duplex outlets beneath the 220V Twist receptacle. Both of these outlets can handle 20 Amp loads. They are on different phases so they can handle simultaneous loads. If a normal 20 amp circuit can handle your power tool, the 7.2 kW generator can handle it.

In fact the 2.4 kW generator should be able to handle it too, it's just that the 7.2 kW can handle two of them, provided they are on different phases (different outlets).

In addition the 7.2 kW 240V/30A outlet is comprised of two 120V/30A circuits providing 3.6kW each. You just need an adapter cable.

I would be very careful with the 2.4 running such a high initial load draw. Our 1100 watt microwave doesn’t really like to run on my 2.4 kw truck. Really, with the cost of the truck, the 7.4 additional expense very marginal.

The 7.2 option is really a no brainer for its additional output. The only downside is that all of the PPOB really has no 'peak' capability. It'll output 7.6kW continuously and not an electron more. They did do an inverter update to let it have a VERY short peak capability that I haven't been able to capture (more so of a time thing than capability). A current transformer on the scope could capture it, just don't have the ability to generate varied peak current hits. Never tripped it powering compressors or circular saws.

You might want to think about getting a SoftStartUp. Fantastic product with many uses. I use mine to power our Airstream travel trailer. I can run both ACs and my microwave with no problems at all.

There are a ton of videos on YouTube on this very subject that goes through each type of generator. They are explain how the circuits work and limitations.
