You need to update your signature to reflect your 2022. You're going to give all 2021 owners a hard-on when they see this. lol

I realize this will do no good, but sometimes venting is therapeutic.
The envy of seeing all these updates going thru to the 22-23 trucks is real. Had my truck for a year and a half and it is starting to feel like it is end of life already. I'm sure being in IT my entire career and always looking for updates to all systems doesn't help...let alone, lurking on these forums that has become rather addicting.

Here's to hoping that soon I will feel like an impatient fool...

...back to your regular scheduled programming

---end of rant---
FWIW even if this is the end of updates for 21's we are light years ahead of where Job 1 trucks shipped out from the factory. Also remember that before 21's you'd be lucky if you EVER got a Sync update at all on your vehicle. Usually, what you bought is what you got for the life of the truck.

Personally I'd love some more updates for my truck, but I'm also very happy with its current state and if that's what I am stuck on I'm ok with it. Besides, they may get more updates, but we'll always have "full" trucks from the factory that didn't have parts picked out due to supply chain issues.

Excellent points.

Apple is releasing a new version of Carplay later this year that will take over the entire dash. My guess is this update is prepping for that new version. Apple releases new beta version in early June for iPhones and final version around September. All this to say my guess is the takeover of the screen will be more complete. I'm looking forward to it but will see how it works when they finally push something out.

I have a 2023, and I too am happy with my current level of updates to the system. However, my Ford Pass...which was working fine when I took delivery....now no longer works. So I am not happy going backwards.

I don't think this is the end of the road for updates on the 2021 trucks. When 3.5.3 first came out, it only went out to 2021 trucks. A while later, 3.5.3.2 came out for the 2022-2023 model years. Whatever the equivalent to 4.2.x is for our trucks is probably still in development. IMO, they are not going to stop developing stuff for our trucks yet.

I agree that my fully updated 2021 has all the tech and features I could want. I can't think of any ground-breaking feature they could add software-wise to a 2022-2023 truck that would make me jealous.

I was rather disturbed when I started up the truck and discovered the SOC for the Hybrid battery at 35%.

That's well below the 43% threshold for the ICE kicking in to charge the battery.

I immediately opened FordPass and sure enough 4.2.2 was installed a couple of nights ago.

Well that's evidence that the OTA procedure for this update requires a substantial amount of time taxing the 12V battery/system.
And for those with a Powerboost, it's evidence that the OTA procedure enables the DC/DC converter (digital alternator) to run. That's amazing!

Just based on a general understanding of software support for products, even $1,000 phones get updates for more than 2 years.. So for a truck, at upwards of $50,000 price tag, I would be very surprised if there aren't updates for at least 5 years..

From everything I've read it will become available on future ford vehicles and isn't something that will get upgraded on current vehicles.

This isn't an upgrade scenario - it would only show up on future vehicles. There is deep integration with many of the systems/modules on the vehicle and won't show up in the real world for a couple of years.

Exactly- unfortunately (or maybe not- not sure how I feel about it actually) we aren't' seeing this on any of our trucks- no doubt about that.
