since I got the update to 4.2.2 . the CarPlay Every time I start my car it kicks me off a Fm Station and goes to carplay screen . no Music playing ! have to press music then FM to Listen to the Radio. Is there something I have to do for to stop doing that? or is that normal?

@Pelican In my case, everything I have learned I learned from dealing with update issues on my own truck and from following the forums and helping people. I do have access to PTS, so I check other people's trucks and point them in the right direction to the best of my knowledge.

All the things they told you about headlights off, setting parking brake, etc is a giant boat load of crap. The few OTA's I have gotten have come in without any of that, and 95% of the people here will tell you the same. My favorite "tip" from Ford's OTA team is when they tell people the reason an update failed is because their gas tank was too empty, as if the engine needs to be turned on for an update to install. It is truly ridiculous. Before an OTA can install, they have to send it to you first. Setting an update schedule is only to prevent your truck from being inhibited during an update during a time frame where you may need to drive it. Updates that do not require the vehicle to be inhibited will go through and install if it is sent to your truck even if you have auto-updates turned off.

The people Ford has answering the phones about these issues are fluffers that are reading scripts to diffuse the situation when a customer calls to complain. They fill your head up fallacious ideas so that you can get your hopes up and then nothing happens. If something does happen, it is purely coincidental. There is no youtube video, there is no loophole to exploit, there is nothing you or anyone can do to create an OTA trigger for your vehicle. Not even Ford themselves. Everyone is at the mercy of Ford's crappy OTA process.
Thank you rugedraw. I really appreciate your response. It does help knowing you're self taught. I just thought I was looking in all the wrong places. As I'm sure you're aware, the best lessons learned are though our own experiences. Thank you once again and take care

the same thing is happening to me with android auto, but I'm only on 2.7.3. Maybe it's happening to me because I just reloaded the software on my phone

I updated my 2021 on Saturday using FDRS to this version, which I assume is the latest/greatest for all 2021s, correct?

Yes, That's where I'm at with my 2021. As of now I think this is as far as we can go on the 21's

I realize this will do no good, but sometimes venting is therapeutic.
The envy of seeing all these updates going thru to the 22-23 trucks is real. Had my truck for a year and a half and it is starting to feel like it is end of life already. I'm sure being in IT my entire career and always looking for updates to all systems doesn't help...let alone, lurking on these forums that has become rather addicting.

Here's to hoping that soon I will feel like an impatient fool...

...back to your regular scheduled programming

---end of rant---

No, the envy is real. My truck will be 2 yrs old in July and I would hate to think that it's at the end of its updatable life. My iPhone is 4 yrs old and not at the end of iOS updates, yet. I would hate to think Ford built in planned obsolescence , but who knows. I guess we just have to have patience.
