Is the OEM pan a composite material, not metal? I swapped in a B&M pan on my MY13. For me it's was a waste really. The stock pan would have been fine if I would have had a drain plug welded in. I just want to be able to do a drain and fill. The filter can can go further than the fluid.

My pan is covered by skid plates now. I think I can still inspect it though without removing anything. Next dry day I'll have to crawl under and take a look-see.

Is the stock pan reusable?
Yep, reusable but offers no real heat-dissipating qualities.

yeah, I do believe that there would be quite a few people that would be willing to purchase a powerboost pan
Yes.

I picked up a used 23 PB with 14.5k miles in May. I have put 8k miles on it, most on a trip from Southern California up to Alberta.

I want to drain and fill the transmission in the not too distant future.

Sure would be nice if Misshomoto, PPE, or some other aftermarket manufacturer would make the longer aluminum pan with the cooling tubes and a DRAIN PLUG for the Powerboost.

It is not a user friendly DIY fluid change without a plug.

Certainly there are enough powerboosts on the road for a viable market for such a pan?

Maybe powerboost owners aren't typical DIY part upgrade enthusiasts?

I did send Mishimoto snd PPE email inquiries with my interest. My gut tells me it just won't be profitable for a manufacturer to R&D and produce the pan that is only for our F150. The non PB 10r80 has such a wide application and larger market.

I wonder what price point would make it worthwhile to manufacture and still have a market? 500?

At least the rear transfer case cover can be upgraded.

Fluid changes in all that cosmic with the factory set up.

If you don’t want to drop the pan, you simply suck the fluid from the fill port.
Fluid goes back in the same hole
But yes, it would be very nice to have a drain plug

Reply from PPE:
"Nothing is in the works for the power boost at the moment from what I understand."

🤨oh well. Pump it is. Either cheapo harbor freight electric or hand pump will suffice. I am not jacking the transfer without a better pan replacement with a drain plug.

I have seen stealerships quote around $1k for a mercon ULV drain and fill on the powerboost. Yikes.

Right. I was thinking LV cause I just drained and filled a Cmax CVT. I got some of that left. I believe the LV is the correct viscosity for the rear differential and transfer case.

My opinion…….

The weight depends on where you live
Texas, I would use 75w140
Minnesota, I would use 75w90
👍I have always used 90 in a subaru outback. Mainly in mild so cal but it does get time in sub zero.

Mishimoto never responded. I'll take it as a no.

Glad there's a post on this...
Tried unsuccessfully to install the PPE pan 2 years ago on my 21' PB. Did not end well. In my macguyver state of mind-tried to overfill Mercon hoping it would somehow self-primed and voila. Nope

Rolled halfway to the tranny shop on electric and had to be dragged the rest by the hook.

Still have the pan and the invoice for putting it back stock (at least with fresh fluid).

Patiently waiting for a real option for ours.

Still amazes me with the number of PB out there that all the aftermarket companies are like this when it comes to producing a pan for it.

I’ll be damned, I would’ve never thought that was even possible. The non-Powerboost pan is quite different internally. No tube assemblies in the standard 10r80 pan.

The Powerboost's cooling circuit is pretty complex and it all ties into managing cooling for the HV battery pack if I recall correctly. I don't blame people for not wanting to mess with that.
