I have been on the hunt for a replacement aftermarket transmission pan that offers a drain plug and additional port to utilize a thermal sensor. PPE said that their pan wasn't quite deep enough, and that they had no plans to make a pan that was compatible with the Powerboost transmission. Had a chat with Holley about their B&M pan that they offer for the 10R80, and they simply couldn't give me any fitment or dimension information about their offering. They basically said buy it and see if it fits. Not very good support.

Yesterday I called Mishimoto. I talked to Damien about whether their replacement deep transmission pan was compatible with the Powerboost. He was honest and said that he didn't know, but wanted to help. He walked me through all of the measurements associated with their deep transmission pan for the 10R80. I asked whether they had ever test fit their pan on a Powerboost, and he said that they had not had a truck come through so that they could do that. Damien said that they do have a program that allows for owners to sign up to help develop and test their parts for their vehicles. He said that if they got some interest, they could probably test fit their existing pan on a Powerboost.

Their headquarters is in New Castle, DE. I would signup to have my truck used to test fit the pan, but I am in California. Is there anyone close by that has interest in this? You can sign up to work with them through this link. https://www.mishimoto.com/mvp. Damien said he will also talk with his engineering team to see what they can come up with. They may go to a dealership to grab a Powerboost trans pan as well.

There might also be the possibility of a group buy if we can get this going. Needless to say I was blown away by Mishimoto's customer service. Hopefully this could possibly lead to a compatible trans pan for the Powerboost!

Why don't they just buy a PB's oil pan and start there?

I think that's a perfect place to start, the part number in my thoughts should be the same as a regular, the transmission should be the same, it was designed with hybrid in mind, I think the only difference is ours would be longer because the motor is sandwiched.

If you look at other threads in the forum, there is a different pan and filter on the Powerboost transmission. I believe they need the truck to confirm where the filter is installed, how low, and where the pickup is, and any differences between the standard 10R80 and the Powerboost 10R80. Looking at the pan will give them general depth information, but not the critical clearances to see if their existing pan will fit the Powerboost transmission.

The MHT pans have tubes in them. They don't have the same bolt pattern, but they are about the same size. The PB's additional trans length is sitting on the front of it. The internals should be identical.

MHT? Motorized Hybrid Transmission? What are the tubes for and do they connect to anything?

Did you find an alternate transmission pan? I'm interested especially since I will be doing a fluid change in a month or two.

There still isn’t one on the market. Nobody is making one.

Yep, pretty crazy.
Picked up my PB in Feb and have been looking since then, in fact I'd be happy with just a full aluminum pan but one with heat-sink fins and extra capacity would be ideal.

yeah, I do believe that there would be quite a few people that would be willing to purchase a powerboost pan

Is the OEM pan a composite material, not metal? I swapped in a B&M pan on my MY13. For me it's was a waste really. The stock pan would have been fine if I would have had a drain plug welded in. I just want to be able to do a drain and fill. The filter can can go further than the fluid.

My pan is covered by skid plates now. I think I can still inspect it though without removing anything. Next dry day I'll have to crawl under and take a look-see.

Is the stock pan reusable?

stock pan is reusable, but it’s a plastic of some sort.
