Got a notice in the mail today from Ford offering a Performance Upgrade 22G06 to add the heated steering wheel for my 23 Lariat. Total surprise and very welcome as winter is coming and this was one of the things I was most bummed about losing due to chip shortages. Anyone else get this?

There was something like only 2600 trucks that this was possible with. Seen 1 other post. Given the number of F150s sold vs the active members we have, it's a perfect indicator of just how much this forum doesn't represent any meaningful number of F150 owners until a problem pops up and google brings them here.

Wish Ford sold an upgrade for the XLT. I know it can be retrofitted, but …..

I wonder what constitutes being on the list.

It is a bit odd as I previously had a '21 with the 2.7L in it that I traded in when I got a larger TT, so needed more towing capacity/payload and upgraded to the 3.5L. When I was looking, there was still a shortage of trucks on the lot and the one I bought came available as the guy that was originally going to buy it bailed when he found out that it didn't have heated wheel. He ordered it with one and only found out on delivery day that it was deleted. The credit was on the window sticker, so I assumed that was the end of it. I wonder if there is a small number of trucks that only got a partial delete and were just missing the module or something. At any rate, I am treating this as an early Christmas present as I really am missing it in the Canadian winter (it not even that cold yet). I am also not counting my chickens as I first need to get the dealer to actually do the work, so maybe I will have it for next winter ?

The F150 facebook group has been talking about this. A few people in the group got the letter and bunch of the rest are trying to figure out if they can purchase it.

From what I've seen it's build date. Anything built before a certain cut off date can get it. They probably didn't install the other parts thats go along with the chip is my guess since they didn't have the chips.

Talked to the dealer today and the parts are on national back order with no firm ETA, so like I said, I will believe this when I see it. The recall is good until 2026, so maybe I can get it for next winter. I don't understand why Ford bothers doing programs like this if they have no parts. I actually feel bad for the dealer as they are left holding the bag.

I had my truck in a couple weeks ago. I forget what the actual term was but they told me that Ford gave them a 'stop work' order and they did not complete it. I have been busy so still have to follow up. My brother is a Ford tech so I'lll see if I can get him to look it up as well.

For me it showed up on the ford.ca site under recalls first and then I got the letter this week.

did you get this done? How much was the credit on your window? I just bought a 23 that was made in April and it has a 140 dollar credit. Also, would you mind sending me your letter? cross your info out please!

No, didn't apply to me. This was a small handful of 23s. I believe 2 people here were part of the campaign.

I got the letter a couple of months ago. I made an appointment with my local dealer 3 weeks in advance. When I got there, these idiots hadn’t ordered the parts. I brought it back more than a month later this past week. First they called me telling me that they put in the chip but my steering wheel is not compatible, thus I have to pay for a compatible steering wheel. I called them out as my letter states that I would have a complimentary heated steering wheel. The dealership still argued with me about this. Just to know, I asked how much the steering wheel would cost. They said they didn’t know and said they’d call me back. Really??? In the meantime, I called Ford to complain as well as request help in dealing with this. After finally understanding what was going on, the associate attempted to call the dealership to speak with the service manager to resolve the issue. Of course on a Friday afternoon, he wasn’t available. I called the dealership back before they closed and the lady was now saying that my truck “can’t take” a heated steering wheel. While giving her a piece of my mind about their incompetence, I pointed out that there are other F150s with heating steering wheels and they need to figure it out. Well, we’ll see what happens on Monday while I’m stuck with a Bronco Sport rental. Ok car but not my f150 Lightning. Wow…. I love the truck but dealing with this dealership makes me want another Toyota. Too bad they don’t make an electric truck.

Absolute joke these dealerships. I can’t imagine them working on a lightening. The one near me, forgot to put oil in one of my friends car and tried to blame her.

So, my build date is March 12, 2023 at the Dearborn, MI plant... so my vehicle fits within the range and locations specified in the 22G06 notice. However, I am not on their OASIS list, nor VIN-list of affected vehicles. Yet, my window sticker clearly shows the heated steering wheel deleted. My dealer says he cannot do any upgrade unless I'm on that list. Bulleting states 6,261 vehicles affected in the US, vehicles made between September 22, 2022 through March 29, 2023.

Why is my vehicle not on their list? Argh... this is my first Ford. So far, not impressed their customer service.
