See attached images. Working with my dealer now, but I see this on my windshield only when I have polarized lenses on. Any others have this issue and how did you deal with it? It is a little annoying as it is just above eye level on the passenger side.

Might be a defect in the polarization inside the glass, could try and get a new windshield via warranty. That would be my suggestion.

Automotive glass is not polarized by design / intent.

It's not uncommon to see various patterns or rainbow effects viewing through tempered glass with polarized lenses.

Your windshield is tempered glass; it's the tempering process which introduces internal stresses (sometimes localized and random) which can effectively make the glass 'polarized' in optical behavior; when looking through two polarized layers (your polarized shades and the 'polarized' windshield) the patterns become apparent. It's the physics of visible light in play.

The windshield is not defective, nor is it 'polarized' by design, like it or not the 'solution' is to live with it or stop wearing polarized shades when driving. You can swap glass and still find the same effect, maybe a different pattern or location, maybe better, maybe worse.

Note that some window tint films can introduce the same effect.

This is why I tint my windshield and two front windows. I don’t have to wear sunglasses inside my truck.

A much more educated explanation than I could have given, but this is correct. Nothing wrong with your windshield, glasses , or eye balls.

The windshield is not tempered safety glass. It is laminated per FMVSS requirements. Only side glass and rear glass can be tempered safety glass.

Do you always use the same glasses. Maybe a different set of polarized glasses might make a difference, just a thought though.

can’t reply on behalf of the OP, but in my experience it’s only with polarized glasses. With other vehicles I’ve owned I’ve had little square patters on the whole window glass and some windshield. Usually tint helps adjust some of it

Drive down the road and look at other vehicles with polarized sunglasses on and you'll see that nearly every vehicle has varying patterns in the glass.

Exactly! Front windshield isnt tempered. If it was, a rock chip would shatter the entire windshield. Its laminated.
