I have used the stripe off wheel for painted stripes and it works pretty well on painted stripes. Just got to use a light touch. Definitely will need to go back over with rubbing/polishing compound to clean things up then wax everything when done. Depending on how extensive the paint stripes are it may take a few hours to do it so best to set aside 1/2 a day. Other option is to take it to a reputable body shop and have them remove them for you. Those stripe off wheels work great for decals and stickers, a hand painted pinstripe will require sanding and buffing, can't believe they painted those on a brand new truck.
Let’s see some pics!Truck came with dealer installed hand painted pins. Question is how to safely remove? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Im with MNSTG, hard to believe they are painted on. Not an impossibility but a longshot. If its on a new truck and they are tape stripes, they should be fairly easy to just peel off with a little warming in the sun. Those stripe off wheels work great for decals and stickers, a hand painted pinstripe will require sanding and buffing, can't believe they painted those on a brand new truck.
There's plenty of dealerships that still do it especially if people are willing to pay for it.Yea double check those striped--Who in the H** paints those on anymore
Best answer? Think I'll try the acetone, it won't hurt the clear? Thanks for all the replies. Definitely painted on.Painted stripes should come off with acetone or paint thinner. They'll come off pretty easy if they haven't been on long.
And yes, many dealerships will have a striper come in once every couple of weeks to stripe some stock units. They'll just prep with an alcohol wipe so they are just sitting on the clearcoat.
It can damage the clear coat especially if you use too much pressure or leave it on the body paint for too long. Think about what it does to enamel nail polish paint. Work in small sections and be ready with soapy water wash it away quickly before it starts eating into the clear. Perhaps try it on a small test patch first before going whole hog with it.Best answer? Think I'll try the acetone, it won't hurt the clear? Thanks for all the replies. Definitely painted on.
