Hey guys, I’m considering upgrading my 8 inch display to the 12 inch display. I’m getting conflicting information regarding OTA‘s after the upgrade. I reached out to a few reputable websites and was told OTA updates would NOT happen after the upgrade. However, a couple of people selling the upgrade kids told me they would still happen. Someone from infotainment told me I could update using the thumb drive. Can anyone speak more to this concern?
I would almost rather not do the upgrade if it means losing OTA’s and messing up my truck.

The problem with upgrading the IPC and future updates is that the server will still show the old part number so if an IPC update is sent via OTA for your truck, it will be for the original screen your truck came with and fail. If the IPC being updated is a requirement for a future GWM, APIM or TCU update, it can create a bottleneck for future updates to install.

What I can tell you is that if you buy the kit from a company like Infotainment or @Livnitup, you will be fine. Those guys know what they are doing. Livnitup offers proper programming for $200. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

Seems like livnitup only sells instrument clusters. My post was about the 8 inch to 12 inch infotainment display upgrade.

I would try messaging him directly to see if he can help you accomplish what you want to do.
