I only got one OTA about a month after I got my truck last year around this time and have never even been told another is available. I check all the time manually and it says up to date, currently I can’t even see what version I’m on anymore because the versions are all blank when I go to check them. Right now I can’t even turn on automatic updates; the slider is grayed out.

@DudeitsDenny

I only have access to FDRS and so there's nothing that I can see regarding OTA activity.
But dang you have a lot of updates available

Dude.PNG
Are those OTA updates or are those just updates they’re suppose to do when I take it in for service?

The $10 million question. ?

Ford sends mixed messages
Dealerships are hardwired 1 way

But many of us concluded that if that's a list of updates necessary to bring our trucks up to date on features and functionality, then there's no debate. Our trucks should be updated.
And now they are.

Dang well they’ve already told me that they won’t push updates there. They said that it multiple days to maybe get them downloaded. I guess it may be time for me to find I different dealer.

The real question is what is the aggravation and inconvenience worth?

Rather than a $10million question, it's a ~$700.00 question. :)

For that sum you can just update your truck yourself. Quite a few have and more join daily.

What you'll discover is that it is just a methodical, patient, well documented process. Nothing even close to brain surgery or nuclear physics.

Believe me I’ve thought about it. I’m so paranoid of messing something up is why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet

Mine has failed to pull the most recent ota 4 times now.

I checked the battery as it's an early build and it was low. I hooked it up to a charger and it still failed twine after that.

The FDRS thread is populated with quite a few gentlemen who expressed the same sentiment. While I respect anyone's reluctance to cross-the-line that they've never crossed before, it appears the water has turned out to be ankle deep and nobody has reported to have drowned yet. :)

What do you mean you hooked it up to a charger and tried it twice? Did you allow the charger to fully complete its charging cycle before retrying or did you just hook up the alligators and immediately give it another go? A charger will not compensate for a depleted battery. The battery has to be charged, not just hooked up to a charger.

In addition, you can’t properly charge the battery by hooking the negative alligator to the negative post of the battery. It messes up the BMS. You have to find a grounding point on the other side of the BMS sensor.

Fully charged the battery. Disconnected the charger after it was fully charged and tried it twice. Once via my home's wifi network with a strong signal and once off of the network with the regular cellular signal.

Where did you attach the negative alligator?

Not to the negative terminal. To a grounding point under the hood.

Initial reading after stopping the truck after a 30 minute drive was 78 percent. Used a slow, but not the slowest, setting on my charger and charged the battery to 100%. It took between 3 to 4 hours to fully charge. Then I attempted the update twice.

I have an early build. I probably should just replace the battery but I do not believe that will fix this specific problem.

Yeah, it’s hard to say. Your charged it correctly and it doesn’t sound to me like it’s the battery in this instance. But it might be. An SOC of 78% right after driving it around sounds a little low—like it’s not holding a charge. Next time see if you can look at the voltage. Mine is generally around 12.5V when I’ve been using my truck normally and letting it rest for a few hours before checking.

My vehicle has the OTA updates slider grayed out so I'm not and have not been getting any updates. Can you run my VIN and see what's going? 1ftfw1ed8mfb44036
