My 2021 XLT FX4 49K miles has been making what sounds like an oscillating grinding noise coming from the front passenger wheel area when coasting under 30 MPH.

Video for reference.

What’s odd is that the noise goes away when accelerating and isn’t affected by breaking. It also isn’t present when in 4 high mode.

I’ve inspected the rotors, break pads, and dust guards and everything appears normal. Additionally, I did just have my front suspension replaced after this started and it has come back a day or two after.

What comprises the front suspension? Sounds like a lot of parts to me.

Just swapped in new Bilstein 5100 shocks is all.

The noise was present before the swap. The noise can be intermittent in strength so it’s not always noticeable.

Sounds like a rotor hitting the dust shield to me.

Jack up the front passenger wheel and rotate it by hand until you find the contact would be my plan but I'm not a mechanic by any means. Should roll quietly though.

I have had the same exact noise intermittently since I bought my truck used in December (21' Lariat). I can cycle between 4H or 4A and 2H a couple times and it seems to go away for a while. I'm guessing its an issue with the IWE but haven't made a service appointment yet. Really hate that Ford can't figure out the IWE issues even after switching from the vacuum system on previous models.

My 2023 tremor goes in tomorrow for this issue. Groaning at low speeds. Feels like a slight drag on the driveline. Can feel it in the steering wheel.
seems to go away in 4A or 4H.
truck only has 22,000 kms (14,000 miles)

has anyone confirmed that the new, non vacuum IWE’s are to blame?
I was excited to finally be rid of the vacuum system…..
