Opinions on bed liner and flip top tonneau covers

I got a drop in plastic liner installed when I purchased the truck and added the Leer folding cover several months later. As mentioned before the cover itself is nice but the instructions aren't great. I've never had issues with the plastic liners on any of my previous trucks and they weigh a lot less than the spray in, which lessens the payload hit.

I have the Lomax Stance tonneau. It's very sturdy and I like the seamless look.

If I go through a high pressure car wash or drive in a hard rain storm, I get maybe a teaspoon of water at each front corner and a few drops on the inside of the tailgate. That could probably be fixed with some adjustment of the weather stripping, but I haven't bothered.

ps...the truxedo sentry ct can support at least 220lbs, me, and when rolled up doesn't block the rear window like a flip panel does. just an FYI.

I’m not so much concerned with the window being blocked, I’ve got mirrors for that. I’m mainly concerned about weatherproofing and security. Does tuxedo have a subframe that would prevent someone from cutting through the canvas top? Obviously any top can be defeated by a motivated crook but keeping honest people honest is the goal.

Mine has the sprayed in bed coating but I wanted something that would keep items from sliding around inside the bed. Had a cheap $78 liner that was more like plastic than rubber so switched to a Geedar heavy duty rubber mat, $113 on Amazon and found it is far more slip resistant.

Factory Bed Mat works great for this, too, but is $210. I used points to buy it and love it. Very heavy duty.

cover has built-in slam latches that let you lock down the cover and secure gear inside the bed. The aluminum slats also add strength against break-ins...not getting in with just a razor knife.

A couple years back I got rear ended. Tailgate was jammed and I had to break in to the bed to get my suitcase out before they towed the truck away. It took 45 minutes, a crowbar and some serious expletives to bust my MX4 open.

Thieves will get in if they try hard enough, but the cover wasn’t easy to break in to.

On our short bed I went with Bedrug and it has been fantastic for our needs (similar to your usage).

I tried a Retrax retractable cover and the 4-panel BakFlip, both failed to keep the bed dry. Different reasons for water getting under the covers but established that none were the result of bad installation. Living in the PNW made this a priority. I ended up going with the Undercover Elite LX. It's been fantastic, keeps everything dry underneath, and is solid from a security perspective. It's utility is limited compared to the other covers mentioned, but my needs are met and it's been three years on the truck with no complaints.

That one I’d definitely on my short list. Is it light enough to be removed by one person if you need to haul large items? How is the paint match on it?

It takes two people to remove and place back safely, but one person can do it if they are strong enough with good balance. It’s partly weight, but the cover is large and two hands would be a challenge.

The paint match to Agate Black is solid. No complaints.

My factory bed liner on a 2023 F150 is peeling off on the tailgate after only 27 months. The Rhino liner my first truck came with lasted for 8 years w/o any problems.

The dealer had me go to a local body shop for them to get a warranty estimate, but after a month nothing has actually happened yet. They do armadillo liners, and said they would have always wrapped the liner around the bottom, not leaving a 1/2" bit of it that easily gets torn off.

They also would prep the paint surface by scuffing to get better adhesion, which Ford's contractor doesn't.

Installed a Ford Sport Liner in my 2025 F150 XLt yesterday over a Linex sprayed in liner and if I had it to do over again I would have just installed a Bedrug XLT bed mat which is similar to the mat I had in my 2014 F150. Would have much preferred not to have had a spray in liner but I needed a new truck and did not have the time available to order one exactly like I wanted.
