I appreciate the replies. I think i'm going to go and buy 8 quarts of oil and a new filter and take it to a different dealership. I have a sneaky feeling that maybe the oil filling system they use is either malfunctioning or they can only set it to disperse qts and are putting in 8 qts. It sounds like if you barely go over 7.75 quarts, it reads high. Not due for a oil change for a while but will post results when I get it changed.

With the amount of testing Toyota does, I don't worry about a first year vehicle from them. I had my 2007 Tundra 12 years, and replaced the battery and brakes once, and a few sets of tires in that time.
I live close to the Tundra plant and drive by it daily.
The 2022 test mules ( or promotional) trucks are now under an event tent
at the administration building. Maybe 12-14 trucks. Can’t get a good view as the tent has plastic windows that really distort them, but the don’t look all that much different.
I spoke with a Toyota guy (drives an f150) and he said most of the supply issues are nearly ironed out. Not sure I can believe that.
They are in the process of retooling now and the number of 21s being carted out is dwindling.

8 qts is not going to harm anything—-amounts to an orange juice glass overfilled.
When I had my first oil change (2500 mi) at my friendly garage, I told Jesse to go ahead and put in the full 8 qts. Oil level showed the same as it did when I took delivery (looked a bit overfilled).
At my 5000mile change at the Ford Store, when I got it back the oil level looked to be the same as the previous change.
Now at 8k, and the level is still the same.
I will check again at 10k before I go back for my second scheduled change.

Just had my second oil change last week. First @ 2500, second @ 7500. This time I requested that they add only 7 3/4 quarts, plus a filter. Came back again 1/2” above max level. Checked my daughters oil level, she also has the 5.0. Same dealer hers was fuller than mine. Ford shop has no clue but will get back to me. Anyone else with this issue.

I have the 5.0. Put in exactly what the manual states--7.75 quarts. It sits perfectly near the max end of the dip stick.

Just changed my oil for the second time, added 7 quarts even, ran the engine to check for leaks and next morning on level ground the oil level is half way between the hash marks and the top "full" hole in the dipstick which I think is ideal.

Thanks for your comments. I now have a good idea what the problem may be.

Just out of curiosity - measure the length of the dipstick metal part only and compare. Some maybe the wrong length. I remember hearing or seeing something about the wrong dipstick installed on the motor, but this is awhile back.

I also remember that post, but failed to find it. I did swap my daughters back and forth same outcome. I will suggest to the Ford shop that they swap mine with a new 5.0 on the lot (if they have one). Or they can replace my dip stick and holder on warranty. Son in law just talked to one of the mechanics at the shop he knows. He claims that the 5.0 holds a lot of oil in the top end after it has been shut down. He suspects that they are not waiting long enough before topping off.

Thought about a Toyota when I bought my Powerboost last year but with 50 less HP and nearly 1/2 the gas mileage (13 vs 24) it was a no brainer...

I just did my first change on my 5.0.

Disclaimer -> I took about 8.3 quarts of oil out of it (the dealer did the last fill).

Second, I let engine drain for 30m after removing plug and filer.

I added 7.7 quarts carefully measured.

However, I am reading almost half way between the "full" hole and "Ford" print on the dipstick. I did a check after letting the truck sit level overnight. I guess the dipstick just reads overfilled?
